Jill | 738 comments Yesterday I listened to 5 hours of audio and read 180 pages. I finished The Best of Adam Sharp and added it as the third book for the books that span 10 years. I also finished The Duke and I and added it as the first if the two books needed for a book with two people on the cover. Feel free to move them if you need to.

I would recommend it for anyone who likes more character-driven, emotional/reflective stories, and I did like the diverse perspective and representation. Also, there's strong theme of mental health and finding one's place in the world."

Thanks, Kristina!:) Sounds good, but not something I need to rush to get to then.

Hope you get the power back soon. I added the pages for you:)

message 54: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments We don't have power back but the internet is back and hooked up to the generator.

I put in 2 hours for my audio today. Hoping to complete I Let You Go tonight. Only 30 pages or so left in it.

message 55: by Jill (new)

Jill | 738 comments I read 192 pages today. I finished Nick and put it as one of the three books where a romantic love story is not featured. I am going back to work tomorrow after two weeks off so I don’t know how much I will get read tomorrow. Only saving grace is that I am working remotely so no commute.

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments Can we change one of the wild cards that I think we used for a book where the character moves to a new home? Can we move it to the prompt that is a book with "one" in the title? In I Let You Go the main character moves to a new place in the beginning.

message 57: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I completed I Let You Go. Let me know if we should move it in that spot or move it somewhere else.

It's not a wild card - it was Inside Out & Back Again which is all about the experience of immigrating to the USA. But it's about a kid, so I could move it to the different life stages prompt.

Oh gotcha. It's up to you. I'm just trying to see where we need a book to fill a slot.

We don't seem to have any books for the 3 different ages prompt for a kid, so I'll move my book there and you can use your book for the moving to a new place prompt.

message 61: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments I finished Falstaff which I intended for Shakespeare but which also fits for an elderly character.

Next book is Such a Fun Age. I don’t know where it will fit but I can’t have any more ebooks from the library until I’ve returned it.

Can I please go down for 258 pages on Monday? Thanks.

message 62: by Joi (new)

Joi | 43 comments Are the prompts supposed to repeat at the end?

I thought each person put the books in going across........or are we doing one up and down per person?

I've updated the spreadsheet for you. We have the least options for the Shakespeare prompt so I've slotted it in there but I can move it if you want?

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Joi wrote: "Are the prompts supposed to repeat at the end?

There are a different number of books required for each prompt, which is why some of them repeat. The first section is one book each, the second section is two, the third is three and the last one if four.

On the tracking page, the columns down show who read the book (I think your name is towards the end) and the rows across are which prompt. The green ones are complete and the white ones are still needed.

On the planning page, you can see what everyone is reading and which prompts they potentially work for.

Hope that explains it :)

Yes. Thank you so much. I just put some books in, but the boxes didn't turn green. Can you please make sure I did everything correctly?

message 66: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments I’m planning to collect Sweet Sorrow from the library tomorrow which could be the second Shakespeare book.

message 67: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Good morning Orchids! My reading has slowed down a bit but hopefully will got one of my two done tomorrow. I'm listening to Call Me By Your Name coming of age or two people? and reading The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.

message 68: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven - that sounds like a “you read WHAT?” book!

message 69: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I'm starting Vanishing Girls. Not sure what that could qualify for yet.

message 70: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Joyce I picked if for that not sure it would really qualify, so thanks for the comment!

The boxes don't turn green automatically - you have to click on the row and then fill with 'light green 2'. Or wait for someone else to notice and do it

message 72: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2133 comments I just finished A Stranger in Town and I used it for a book where the mc has a pet - but it does feature an elderly character and I think someone mentioned they had an orange cover with fallen leaves so it could match that.

message 73: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments I’ve finished Such a Fun Age. Not sure where to put it. It’s a debut but there is quite an important goldfish in it so maybe it could go with the characters who own pets. Also, if Postmortem was ok to move to the books that contain the letter P, that would free up a space for a book written by a woman.

I read 612 pages today.

I entered your page numbers and moved [book:Postmortem|6534] to a title that contains a P and put your book in there instead.

message 75: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I listened to two hours of audio today also and I marked that on the spreadsheet.

message 76: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2133 comments I finished The Martian and used it for a debut author.

message 77: by Ira (last edited Feb 17, 2021 01:37AM) (new)

Ira | 361 comments Hi team. It got really busy at work Monday and Tuesday, and I had to work some overtime. I managed to listen to some audiobook and read some pages, but I have not finished anything yet. I updated the spreadsheet with my numbers. I hope I will finish Defending the Galaxy today.

message 78: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments I have library delay. Does anyone else have a book with the word one in the title planned? If not I could start Number One Chinese Restaurant (despite the reviews!)

Ira | 361 comments Joyce wrote: "I have library delay. Does anyone else have a book with the word one in the title planned? If not I could start Number One Chinese Restaurant (despite the reviews!)"

I can move One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest up my TBR.

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments Joyce wrote: "I have library delay. Does anyone else have a book with the word one in the title planned? If not I could start Number One Chinese Restaurant (despite the reviews!)"

I can read Paris for One and Other Stories. That can count for the one or the four books that we need with a letter P.

message 81: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments So I left the “one in the title” prompt to others but finished A Kind of Magic which counts for “warm and fuzzy” and have started The Future Won't Be Long which I think features two flat mates without romantic involvement.

message 82: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments Wow I've let the team down today. A sunny mild day after cabin fever is to blame. I'll do better tomorrow :)

message 83: by Jill (new)

Jill | 738 comments It has been a rough couple of days at work so I have not been able read too much. Hoping for more reading time tomorrow.

message 84: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2133 comments Well, I picked up Before the Coffee Gets Cold just to see and couldn't put it down, even though it left me in tears. I haven't decide what to use it for yet.

message 85: by Ira (last edited Feb 17, 2021 11:12PM) (new)

Ira | 361 comments I finished reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest today morning. I updated the spreadsheet before I got to work today. I am going to update my Goodreads to match when I get home. I put it under under a book with the word one in the title, but feel free to move it if it fits better somewhere else.

message 86: by Joyce (last edited Feb 18, 2021 12:10AM) (new)

Joyce | 617 comments I have 264 pages for Wednesday.

I do think Such a Fun Age could move to the “owns a pet” prompt. It’s not the protagonist, but one of the leading characters is given a goldfish which leads to a realisation that helps to further the plot. This frees up “written by a woman” which is a bit of a freebie.

P.S. I know what you mean about cabin fever Perri. I went for a walk in the rain yesterday just for the sake of getting outside.

Hi! I added the books to the spreadsheet, and marked Kind of Magic as completed.

I agree, and moved it to the pet prompt. That gives us one more open freebie prompt :)

message 90: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments I finished The Sun Also Rises yesterday, and marked it down for the self care prompt, where the self care activity in this case was a fishing trip. I would personally love to go on a fishing trip right now, instead of working 12 hours a day.

message 91: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2133 comments I was thinking, Before the Coffee Gets Cold is about time travel, so would that work for the travel book?

message 92: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Good idea, Kendra:)

message 93: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments And Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a *very* Japanese book so, unless you live there, you’ve travelled in your head to a different culture.

message 94: by Joyce (new)

Joyce | 617 comments I’ve finished Sweet Sorrow which gives us the second Shakespeare prompt.

I have 416 pages for Thursday if someone would be kind enough to enter them for me.

message 95: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2133 comments Joyce wrote: "I’ve finished Sweet Sorrow which gives us the second Shakespeare prompt.

I entered it for you. 28 prompts completed, and 11 Wild Cards, so we only need 18 more books. Go Team.

Kristina | 245 comments I've finished Love with a Chance of Drowning Love with a Chance of Drowning by Torre DeRoche and slotted it as a book with a heart on the cover.

message 97: by Sarah (last edited Feb 18, 2021 09:18PM) (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments I just finished Unbirthday for heart on the cover too!

message 98: by Hilde (last edited Feb 19, 2021 05:16AM) (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Hi team!

I finished Mørketid today, and added it for the "Three books featuring protagonists at different stages of life", where the main protagonist in this case is in his late 40's. Of course it can be moved if needed.

For instance, it has a blue cover - does anyone else happen to read a book with a blue cover? There isn't any descriptions of the covers in the planning tab for most of the books we are currently reading.

Mørketid by Jorun Thørring

message 99: by Perri (new)

Perri | 886 comments I finished Heartbreaker for the enemy turns into lover trope. I haven't read that type in a long time, and it was fun to revisit the genre. That roommate without being lovers is awfully specific. Any ideas on that one? I'm reading a Brene Brown book which is warm and fuzzy. But feel like I'm running out of time!

message 100: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2133 comments I finished Nobody But You and I used it for the fresh starts prompt. That means we are now at 34 completed prompts and 13 Wild Cards, so we only need 10 more books finished or extra wild cards. We can do it!
