Niharika wrote: "Just one day till the teams are announced!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!"Haha, actually, no. We're accepting sign-ups until March 15th.
We'll start putting the teams together from March 16th onward.
However, your enthusiasm is much appreciated. :)

What a letdown. But it's fine. I can wait a little longer.
Michelle wrote: "I can't wait to see the teams as well and to see the prompts and discuss which books to get :)"The prompts are out. You must have seen them?

I was told they're a variation of the prompts from the 25K celebration, so I have seen those :). I always find it difficult to find books that I'd want to read (and also are still available in the library) that fit prompts though. I've found some, but I'm also open to suggestions from my team once it gets announced :)
Haha, I normally read quite lengthy fantasy books, but I do like some other books as well. so far I've found four that might fit some prompts (realistic I'll only have time to read two during the period) and that are available at the library. I need to renew my library card, so I was planning to do that tomorrow or the day after and get those books :p. But if there are some other good suggestions and reads and they're available, I can always go and pick them up after we meet our teams :)
Niharika wrote: "I'm not sure I'll budge. Simply because I haven't a library close by. I wish I did."I'm happy to have a library at walking distance, where I pass by very often if I walk towards other places in the city :p. However, I feel like there are less books available now, since their returning policy has changed due to covid (some people not being able to bring back their books due to quarantaine or isolation). I'll have to see what is available. I'm also not allowed to spend hours in the library looking for books, so I have to look up what books I want to get before I go :p.

Yaaay! More people joining :)
Michelle wrote: "Yaaay! More people joining :)"I like the enthusiasm haha
I've been contemplating whether or not I should join, because I don't read as much as some other people here, and I was worried about getting stuck with "impossible" prompts. But I've found a few books that could work for multiple prompts, so hopefully that won't be a problem.

I had doubts too before I signed up, but I think the people here are all friendly and I think everyone reads different books, so they'll hopefully be varied enough to fill all prompts :)
Michelle wrote: "I had doubts too before I signed up, but I think the people here are all friendly and I think everyone reads different books, so they'll hopefully be varied enough to fill all prompts :)"I just didn't wanna be that "casual" reader who can only take the "easy" prompts. But I think you're right, there'll probably be enough variety in the people and the books that things will turn out just fine.
I also think that what is difficult depends from person to person. For example, one of the prompts states read a book starting with Y. Since I'm probably going to read in Dutch, this would be very very difficult for me. I can't even think of many words starting with Y in Dutch, let alone find a book that starts with it. However, I know in English it won't be that much of a problem :p
@Michelle and @Willemijn...so glad you are joining the Readathon! No matter how many books you read, be it a lot or a little, I think the Readathon will be FUN!! The members of this group are really friendly and you can contribute to your team in any way you can...it is also a good way to get to know more members of the group and put "faces to names"! I think it will be a blast and I know from the ATY Readathon that I just did (and that was my first Readathon ever:) that everyone contributed to the team and everyone fit their book into the prompts in the way that they liked! We also encouraged one another and "socialized" by writing messages on the team thread when we had time :)Hope you have fun with this Readathon!

Welcome, Wilemijn!
Haha, in the world of recreational reading, we are all "filthy casuals." Oh wait, that's a gaming term. :D
Alison is absolutely right about a readathon's social aspect.
And Michelle is correct about what's easy for one teammate possibly being hard for another teammate, so if the entire team is working together and enjoying it, what more can we ask, right?
P.S. Michelle, it took me a awhile to find a "Y" book that both appeals to me and is shortish.
MichelleIf you spend some time matching books to the "Celebrating 25,000 Members" quarterly prompts, that is the best preparation you can do.
Another option would be to stroll through that quarterly challenge's thread and see what books the participants have chosen for different prompts. since we all have different reading preferences, it's a great way to encounter a new-to-you author or book.
Thank you all for the kind words! I'm really motivated to start the readathon now. I just got back from the library and got six books that I can choose to read for the readathon (I can choose two to read defenitely and read the others if I have time left.) I can barely wait to start reading those books! :D

Whoops -- I haven't marked the ones I plan to read for the readathon yet (I've only chosen 6 out of 10 so far for that). I was waiting to see who is on what team and mention those there and then choose the rest based on that plus what I think I can get my hands on from the library since it starts on March 25.
KarinIf you've already picked some picks out, you'll want to check how many prompts each book will fit.
Folks who have signed up for 8+ books really should try to choose books that fit multiple prompts.
When your team gets together, it will be easier to work toward completing prompts if the whole team knows which of their books fit which prompts.
Sorry, I know I'm repeating myself.

For me with other reading things I am doing, etc, I have mostly found books that fit one from my huge tbr, but will see how things go once I meet the team I'm on!

I actually used this tactic and signalled out a few Agatha Christie books that fit a couple of prompts. I’ll probably not read all of them but just being safe! 😬

I did find a lot of books from my TBR, but now I’m scanning each for page numbers. Don’t want to read long books (which I usually do) for this readathon.

What I've done is create a separate GR bookshelf for possible readathon books.
For this special readathon shelf, I've changed the settings to add: "num. pages," "num. ratings," and "date pub."
As long as I've chosen the right edition of my books, my info will be mostly reliable. Made me realize most of my choices don't have 25k+ ratings, haha.
