Hi David, Ironically, my travel is to the UK, to WWII history! Reading Erik Larson's "The Splendid and the Vile", about Churchill and England during the bombing of London. Next up, "Troilus and Cressida",by Shakespeare, to go back to the Trojan War. For a playful, linguistic challenge, try "Divina Trace" by Robert Antoni, of Trinidad. What have you been reading? Best, David
Hi David - thanks for these recommendations. I really like the look of Divina Grace and so I have added that one to my list. I've just finished Justine - the first of Durrell's Alexandria quartet. It was not the easiest read, but I really enjoyed it because I invested in it. With regards to my favourite Americas author, that has to be Mario Vargas Llosa - Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter is wonderful :)
Hi, David! I have enjoyed all of Laurence Durell's works. If you are looking for a Canadian author, I recommend The Deptford Trilogy: Fifth Business/The Manticore/World of Wonders by Robertson Davies. I grew not far from his home town and have lived in Toronto for a long time, where a number of his books are also set.
If you want to go to a time and a place less travelled, please consider my Canadian historical novel Prairie Grass. It spans two centuries on the Great Plains of North America in a story told through the intertwined lives of a Metis and a settler. https://fb.me/e/3UIGQhZU4
