Hi Meran - That helps. I looked at a few people that I knew from Shelfari and I came closer to matching theirs probably because of the book discussions there. Plus we all have our own preferences. Thanks! :)

Meran Sure ;)

Territadlock06 | 20 comments I am also interested in the social aspect of goodreads. have followed the book club for a few years, and this is my second year for the reading challenge. My friends do not read a lot either, I would like to be able to share my thought about the books I am reading. Please add me, and maybe I can figure out the compare books thing lol

Meran Some of my local friends read, but not many are as prolific as I am. I also have a very wide range of interests, like Classics as well as a science fiction. I've tried to join a few groups based here in the Portland area, but none were accepting new people (private, only for their own close friends) or are an hour's drive from me (or more).

So, I'm here instead. ☺️

Berit | 138 comments Have you tried your local library? I go to a Mistry book chat, as well as a fiction book Chad, once a month at my local library..I used to do a book Chad with a group of friends, but I find these book chats at the library are better at discussing the book. My friends and I ended up discussing everything but the book :-)

Meran There aren't any libraries that close to me, anymore? A lot have been closed.

However, those I've seen have mostly (in some cases, only) best sellers and romances. Yuck.

Rona (ronadareader) Hello All,

I have been on Goodreads now for a while, but this is my first time really participating in any groups. I am trying to be more outgoing this year (I was never a social butterfly) and I am always up for a friend request if anyone feels like sending me one. Would love to make more friends on Goodreads who have similar tastes in books, my friends are not as into reading as I am and I am always open to new recommendations too :D

Meran Ro, I have never been described as a social butterfly (or even very social) lol
It's my husband's job…

So, you're probably in a very good place, here
:)

Sonya Ball It's a good thing there are so many online libraries now for those of us who live far from real libraries. I hate to see them disappearing though, it truly saddens me to see a real book looking lonely.

Meran Sonya, I SO agree!
