Best of luck - you're doing the right thing. My grandmother had both bunions done when she was in her 50s, and I believe having the procedure done lengthened her life. She was more mobile afterwards (well, after the healing, as you've noted) so she was able to stay fit, stay active and stay independent. Congratulations on your decision. And enjoy those painkillers - you've earned them :-)
