Killer software program

Looking for a book from about 8-10 years ago maybe , a rich eccentric tech guy dies and leaves a computer program that runs amok . I remember there was a debacle as police tried to get into his house . Later the program replicates and starts to control groups do do its bidding . Any one remember something like this ?
