Jayme | 4519 comments Alemta - I'm checking with Kristie to find out if I can read a book that you are planning on reading. My hold for The Secret Lives of Church Ladies is available now and I could read that also since it is not very long.

If I can read it, than 6 books for me.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @Fiona

I slated you for:
Only Time Will Tell
The Woman in the Window
The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared
The Girl Who Played with Fire

Will that work for you?

If you can do more, choose another of your "Girl" books. Maybe another team member can read for "Girl" at the end as well

message 55: by Abby (new)

Abby | 270 comments Off of The Girl Who Played with Fire I could read The Loneliest Girl in the Universe which I have had on my TBR for forever.

Never mind - just saw that you did!!

So if I am not slated to read The Black Tulip I can gopher for another book for the chain.

The Secret Lives of Church Ladies is the fifth book. Are you going for a sixth?

message 61: by Jayme, Moderator (last edited Feb 06, 2021 10:03AM) (new)

Jayme | 4519 comments Are you going for a sixth

My books aren't that long, so I will gopher for another short book. Crossing fingers I find one that fits the chain.

Did we decide on a team name?

No we haven't. I was hoping for Saar and Connie to join us first.

Looks like Chain Reaction and Top of the Chain are tied.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments re you still planning on reading Ember Queen and
Why We Took the Car during the Toppler?

I can try to find connections, if you are.

message 74: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Excellent gophering everyone!

We now have one complete chain going.

If you can read more, any book with these words will fit in:
Could
First
Girl
Love
Murder
Secret
Sisters
Tell
Who
Woman

Or read one that will fit at the top or bottom of the chain.

Abby | 270 comments Almeta wrote: "re you still planning on reading Ember Queen and

Probably. I'm definitely going to read Why We Took the Car because it's short and looks fun but I don't know if I'll be able to fit Ember Queen in the week because it's rather long.

Saar The Book owl | 2650 comments Sorry for the late check in. I can read one of the following or both:
Eat, Pray, Love
The Woman Upstairs

message 77: by Lori Z (last edited Feb 07, 2021 01:28PM) (new)

Lori Z | 2086 comments Okay, so I'm good to go with my 3 picks:
Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life
Christmas is Murder
Murder on the First Day of Christmas
I don't want to commit to any more at this time but if I have time I'll jump on another one.

Hellloooo Saar! Glad you've joined us.

I will list both books for you to read. If you can not get to them both, the chain will not be broken. So no worries.

Do you have an opinion on a team name?

message 80: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments By-the-Way, Jayme has confirmed that a book can be read by more than one team member.

So if you see a title that you also want to read, it is allowed.

Okay let's vote on a name from these three choices:
Chain Reaction
Top of the Chain
Chained Readers

message 90: by Jayme, Moderator (last edited Feb 12, 2021 04:09AM) (new)

Jayme | 4519 comments I like Chain Reaction too.

Almeta - are you going to set-up a separate reporting thread for the Toppler?

I think I am going to start with Not That I Could Tell and Tall Tails Secret Book Club since both of those books are links to continue the chain.

I am still planning on reading 6 books, but was thrown a curve ball yesterday and have to have an MRI on my ankle and several doctor appts next week. Don't they know a Toppler is scheduled and they are eating into my reading time!?! :)

message 91: by Almeta (last edited Feb 12, 2021 01:30PM) (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Jayme wrote: ".....I think I am going to start with Not That I Could Tell and Tall Tails Secret Book Club"

Yes those two books would be more important than Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany, Love Medicine and Secret Lives of Church Ladies, which I gather you have figured out yourself!

That leaves Secret, Book & Scone Society

I am sorry that you are having medical issues. Soooo annoying.

Take care of your health first. Don't worry about the Toppler.

message 92: by Almeta (last edited Feb 12, 2021 03:06PM) (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments Jayme wrote: "....Almeta - are you going to set-up a separate reporting thread for the Toppler?..."

I had not planned to create a separate thread, however I see that Kristie's team has done so. Perhaps as the moderator she would prefer it.

I'm going to name the team Chain R3action. (the 3 follows the trend of identifying the team number).

AND

We can use the thread Chain Reaction R3velations to report our finished books.

message 93: by Almeta (last edited Feb 12, 2021 08:43PM) (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @ABBY

If you begin your reads with We Could Be Heroes and
I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You, then the chain would likely continue, whether you were able to read the others or not.

I'm just suggesting those first in case life throws you a curve and you are unable to complete any of the others.

message 94: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @FIONA

If you find that you can't complete all of your reads,
Only Time Will Tell is the least necessary book in the chain.

message 95: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @SAAR

Both your reads are in a great position to continue the chain.

Let me know if you can add another book, so we can talk about the best strategy at that point.

message 96: by Almeta (last edited Feb 12, 2021 09:01PM) (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @JENN

Your choices are placed well in the chain also.

If anything prevents you from completing them all, I suggest you eliminate Black Tulip near the end.

message 97: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments @ LORI Z

I suggest you read Christmas Is Murder last, since its absence would not break the chain.

message 98: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11457 comments I am going to try again to reach CONNIE. She can help us grow our chain.

message 99: by Almeta (last edited Feb 12, 2021 09:27PM) (new)
