Will liaise with Debra tomorrow - I'm at my pub quiz tonight.

message 307: by WndyJW (new)

WndyJW Pub quiz. That makes me think of Detectorists, the best series ever in the history of television.

OK, I have discussed this with Debra and we propose Sunday 20th March, at the usual start time of 2015 UK time (GMT).

I would much prefer to send the invitations by email, so if you didn't give me your email address last time or it has changed, send me a private message.

I look forward to a lively discussion.

message 311: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Haiken | 1907 comments Wonderful! I'd love to join in having missed the last one.

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) | 209 comments I hope to be able to join in this time.

message 314: by David (new)

David | 3885 comments You will not yet be on summer time, correct? Our daylight saving time begins March 13.

message 315: by Hugh, Active moderator (new)

Hugh (bodachliath) | 4399 comments Mod
Correct. Our clocks don't change until March 27th (I checked before posting).

message 316: by WndyJW (new)

WndyJW I wish I could join in, but we’re having a family party since we didn’t get to have one during the holidays.

message 317: by LindaJ^ (new)

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 1100 comments March 20 looks good.

message 318: by Debra (new)

Debra (debrapatek) | 539 comments Looking forward to it! I've been really busy with work, so haven't had much time to read, but I hope to read something before our call. Which books are generating the most discussion in the group?

message 319: by Hugh, Active moderator (new)

Hugh (bodachliath) | 4399 comments Mod
The Republic of Consciousness prize list is the only active discussion, and I am not sure any of those books is generating a huge amount of discussion. The Women's Prize longlist will be announced on Tuesday morning and the Booker International on Thursday, so we are about to get much busier.

message 320: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tstan) | 598 comments Count me in! I’ll participate though I may have to be offscreen. Which is to everyone’s benefit🙂

I have just emailed the Zoom details for tomorrow to everyone on my list - I can easily do another batch if you give me an email address by private message before 1800 GMT tomorrow.

message 327: by Marcus (new)

Marcus Hobson | 66 comments Sorry that I left early last night - the tropical storm arrived with torrential rain, thunder & lightening- all blocking the signal from the satellite. A few minutes later we lost all power for an hour. The joys of living in rural New Zealand!
Good to 'see' you all.

message 328: by LindaJ^ (new)

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 1100 comments It was a fun call. Enjoyed everyone's comments on the three longlists.

message 329: by WndyJW (new)

WndyJW Rural New Zealand would be worth bad weather from the pictures I’ve seen of New Zealand. I just watched Lord of the Rings while baking the other night and was struck again by the beauty of NZ.

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 1100 comments It was a good way to pass a Sunday afternoon, even if it did cause me to miss some March Madness!

Debra has reminded me we need to organise another meeting. I propose Sunday 14th August. Are we OK with 2015 BST or shall we make it a little earlier?

message 334: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Haiken | 1907 comments Sunday the 14th is good for me and I'd love to join at whatever time works for the group.

message 335: by Irene (new)

Irene | 95 comments Should work for me, flexible on timing that day as 15th is a public holiday in Belgium

message 336: by WndyJW (new)

WndyJW I hope to join that date.

message 337: by Emmeline (new)

Emmeline | 1031 comments I’ll try!

message 338: by Paul (new)

Paul Fulcher (fulcherkim) | 13395 comments Should be able to do that. Although I will just have landed and my bodyclock will have that as 4.15am so excuse me if I nod off during the call :-)

Bit early for me and the Booker books as out of the UK so won’t be able to get any till after then. But perfect to get the download on which ones are worth reading.

message 339: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tstan) | 598 comments I’m in!

LindaJ^ (lindajs) | 1100 comments Should work for me.

message 344: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Haiken | 1907 comments With apologies (and real regret) I am going to miss this evening's Zoom call. My grandmother passed away Thursday just two weeks shy of her 112th birthday. She was a marvel and her funeral is in a few hours. I would much rather she still be alive and I could join you all for what I am sure will be a wonderful conversation about the Booker longlist and many other things. Sorry to miss it.
