Colleen Mertens | 39 comments I've read other books by Ibi Zoboi so I look forward to reading Pride which I will use as my romance for this month. I will be reading Ironheart as my book starting with I. I will be reading "The Left Hand of Darkness" as the book from the year I was born. Recently I finished Caste: The Origins of our Discontent. That was a deep book and deserves a wider audience. I thought it was fascinating and explained some of our current political issues well. I also recently finished the 2nd book in Melissa de la Cruz's Alex and Eliza trilogy "Love and War". I liked that story and look forward to the 3rd book. I finished "Wild Harmonies" which has a wolf on its cover. It is a memoir of Helene Grimaud's youth and founding of a wolf sanctuary. I enjoyed that a lot. Looking forward to Febraury's reading.

I loved Pride and Prejudice. I also enjoy retellings of it.

Colleen Mertens | 39 comments Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books and I love seeing how it influences other writers and is retold. I finished "The Year of the Witching". I would recommend this book to everyone. A young girl has to save her village from plagues. The only problem for the girl is the highly religious nature of the world she is trying to save. You can guess how things are going to go. Excellent book though.

Colleen Mertens | 39 comments Since last I was on here, I finished reading Isabel Wilkerson's Caste: The Origins of our Discontent. That was an interesting book that we all can learn from. Also I read Stephen King's On Writing. A lot of what he describes as his writing process reminds me of my daughter, who wants to be an author. I found that funny since I often tell her she is going to be her generation's Stephen King, since she has so many books in various stages of being written. Style wise, not so much. I also liked and finished Ironheart though I thought Crier's War was slightly stronger as a story.
