Yeah, Tor's site is great in general with their articles and free short stories. And the Baen Free Library is (or was, if they've taken most of it down) nice, but static as you said. Tor's freebies had been really impressive to me, and I missed at least a year of them!

Just finished reading Child of the Daystar and it was pretty good. The first half of the book was very strong, and then I didn't enjoy the next part, but then it picked back up near the end.
I was about to begin Paladin's Strength, which I was so thrilled to see pop up on my kindle's home screen, but I forget the world and system. So before I delve into it, I'm rereading Paladin's Grace. But it's not as if rereading it is a chore!
For February, I finished Tehanu which finishes the Earthsea books for me. Nothing topped the first book for me, but I enjoyed the whole series.I also read Into the Dark which I enjoyed more than Light of the Jedi but still hasn't won me over to this High Republic era.

You know there's another novel, The Other Wind, in the series, right ? Does a great job finishing Therru's storyline. (There's also a short story collection, Tales from Earthsea, but that's all prequels; great for exploring the world further, but not in the main story sequence.)

Really, the original Earthsea trilogy is the only one that works. Going back and trying to rewrite it to fit ideas that don't fit -- didn't work.
I re-read the first five books of the Chronicles of Amber (Corwin Cycle) and the anthology: The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2019.I've loved the Amber novels since I first read them as a teenager and this is my second re-read. Plus I love Zelazny's style and philosophical ramblings. The anthology was a real pleasant experience--I'm horrible at reading contemporary stuff and am pushing myself to get more current.
If you like Zelazny's work, you can find a set of six hard-cover volumes of his complete short fiction. Many of which were the original stories that became his best novels. Here is the link to the NESFA Press Zelazny books page: https://www.nesfa.org/press/author/?a....There are six volumes with introductory material for each story by Zelazny. The first volume in the series is "Threshold".

There is a 7th book, a bibliography. It had a very limited run & was only in PB, but it had color thumbnails. Several times pictures are mentioned & those aren't in the main books, but are in this one. I'm not sure it's really worth the extra money, but I bought it & looked up a few things.
