Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 255 comments My mom was telling me about this book and I was intrigued by the premise but she couldn't remember the name and so here I am to track it down myself so I can read it. She remembers it being about an alien invasion extremely reminiscent of War of the Worlds, spaceships wandering about and otherworldly plants that look like sticky multicoloured fungi start growing on things to entrap people. She remembers the descriptions of the plants vividly mainly because she read it while she was sick. She also remembers the twist, which was SPOILER ALERT

You think it's an alien invasion, but it's actually revealed the invasion was of demons and other beings from Hell coming up from below the planet.

She read it back in 2005/2006 and got it from the public library but isn't sure when it was published but she thinks 90's, or it was fairly recent. She lived in Illinois in America at the time and she's also pretty positive the author was Dean Koontz because the book was recommended to her.

I would love to know because this book sounds fascinating!

SamSpayedPI | 2308 comments I second The Taking. I did read it, and felt majorly cheated, at the time, by the "biblical apocalypse" explanation.

Elizabeth ♛Smart Girls Love Trashy Books♛ (pinkhairedwannabe) | 255 comments I asked my mom about it, and she says the publication date for The Taking matches up for when she read it because she got it off a 'new releases' bookshelf! So that's the one!
