How to Create and Add a Book [an old one]

This isn't really the group to post this.
The two groups that can better respond are the Feedback group
http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...
and the Librarians group

I will say that it's true we sometimes need to manually add old books. I've added several that weren't in the system.
Most books are automatically added via Amazon and so some old books have to be manually entered. At this point, the vast majority of old books are in the system.
When manually adding a book, it's great if you have the book right there. Then, you can scan the cover and add it, and put in full information for the book: library of congress catalog number, publisher, binding type, etc. etc. etc.
If you have any other information for
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/69...
please add it. You can also request the librarians in the librarians group to add it.
All Dogs Go to Heaven is in the system. I combined then deleted the copy with 0 ratings and no information.
Most old books are here.
Please ask for any help or express your concerns in the Feedback or LIbrarians group.
Thanks so much.

Given the vast number of such books, including small press printings and other limited editions, I doubt that is true. However, enough are in that one should certainly check to see if yours is BEFORE adding it.

Rivka, Good point. I know manually adding books is often necessary.
Karen, Any member can add books if they're not in the system, which is one of the things I love about Goodreads.
Members of the Librarians group are helpful and will try to help add additional book information for books with incomplete records.
Also, a bit of research will often find the correct cover and other details.
For instance Fred Gipson not only wrote "Old Yeller" he wrote a cool book called "Recollection Creek". Not to be found, not recognized. Ditto for the classic "All Dogs Go To Heaven" by Beth Brown.
I could probably find them on alibris.com but not on any of the "import" sites that good reads uses. This makes me crazy. Anyone else solved this?
