Favourite Part: When Circe learned how to use her powers and became confident in herself. Also, at the end when she stands up to her father and defeats Scylla.
Favourite Character: Circe! She has undergone major character development in this book! I also like Daedalus.
Least Favourite Character: All the people who were rude to Circe.
Least Favourite Part: When Circe first came on the island and nothing really happened besides exploring the island. During those chapters, I was waiting for some action to happen.
Themes/Discussion: I liked all the Greek mythology incorporated in this story. I also liked the discussions on right/wrong and who deserves to be punished vs let go.
Rating: 3 stars
- Favourite Part: The writing and the Greek Mythology stories! The writing was lush. Sometimes a little too lush but I really enjoyed some of the lines/quotes in it.
Case in point: "I thought once that gods are the opposite of death, but I see now they are more dead than anything, for they are unchanging, and can hold nothing in their hands."
Also I recognised some of the Greek stories which made me happy as well as some I knew not much about which made me equally as happy.
- Favourite Character: I don't really have an overwhelming love of the characters but I have to agree with you May. I liked Circe because of how much she grew and developed. But I also liked Daedalus cause he was one of the few men characters who was actually decent.
- Least Favourite Character? Helios. Most of them in Helios halls.
- Least Favourite Part? My least favourite part in any book is long chunks of descriptive paragraphs with little to no dialogue in between and Circe had plenty of those moments.
- Themes/Discussion: Circe talks about many things Feminism, Morality, and Power, I believe, being at the forefront.
