Jen (reader44ever) | 6 comments I wasn't too disturbed by this book, but it involves a child kidnapping and a phone sex girl saves her. So it's my taboo and disturbing book of choice!

The Girl in 6E (Deanna Madden, #1) by A.R. Torre by A.R. Torre

Jen (reader44ever) | 6 comments I can also suggest Cry No More by Linda Howard. I read this book around 17 years ago. It turned me off of reading Romantic Suspense by anyone other than Jayne Ann Krentz and Nora Roberts. Because it also involves a child kidnapping (a baby) and this book quite literally destroyed me.

Donne | 16 comments I can suggest most of Carter Wilson's books - all psychological thrillers. Most disturbing for me were Revelation, Mister Tender's Girl, and Boy in the Woods.
Also, Night of the Mannequins is pretty disturbing.
Also, Broken Girls by Simone St. James
I also have heard Devolution by Max Brooks is a pretty crazy horror story.
