1. I moved this book to a unique author profile.2. You have a user profile. You can claim this by going to the author profile page here: Alex Hamilton
scroll down and click on the link that says is this you?
3. There are already authors with the same name.
4. Goodreads disambiguates between authors of the same name by using spaces before the author's last name.
5. This author profile has 3 spaces: Alex^^^Hamilton, where the ^ equals a space.
6. When publications are automatically imported from Amazon or other sources, the "handshake" between Goodreads and the other source do not recognize multiple spaces, so the work goes to the default 1 space profile. It is systemic and in no way implies that another author is claiming your work or that an oversight has occurred. Often when users add works, they may not be familiar with the number of spaces that this profile uses, so may only use the default spacing, as you did and this also is a default action.
7. You can post in this forum to have it moved as you have done, or you can add the book with the 3 spaces between your first and last name before publication.
8. When you ask for assistance, it is helpful to include that your author profile has 3 spaces.
9. When you add a book to this profile, If you look at this page,
Books by Alex Hamilton , there is a place that says
* Note: these are all the books on Goodreads for this author. To add more books, click here.
that will make sure your added books go straight to this author profile.
Apologies i have read these instructions a few times and am a bit confused. I claimed the book using my email associated with my current user profile with picture. I believe it is still processing. Hoping it converts over. As for the Unique Profile you created, not sure if I am to claim that, or it will disappear once the book gets transferred to my current user profile with picture.

Author profiles are not connected to a user profile unless a specific user has claimed it.
If you want to claim the author profile assigned to your book following the instructions above, staff will merge your current user profile with it.
