Verónica | 417 comments Soooo, as the spiked hair poet said... "Looks like we made it" people :D (it's Barry, Barry Manilow). At least we're done with our Feb cards, lets keep moving with the mini as long as our sight allow us. .. or we feel like it.

March cards are as follows (first color cards since they're such a pain in the arse), these are one of each:

2(T) Red *
4(F) Red
6(S) Red

4(F) Green
7(V) Green *
8(E) Green

0(Z) Blue
4(F) Blue
7(V) Blue
8(E) Blue *

6(S) Yellow *

* I have options for these on my list, but feel free to look for other since they can be used for the Reverse or Wild cards.

CARD QTY

9(N) 12
2(T) 9
6(S) 9
1(O) 8
5(I) 8
7(V) 8
3(H) 7
Skip(K,P) 7
4(F) 5
8(E) 5
Reverse 5
Wild 4
Wild Draw 4 4
0(Z) 3

For the planners, if you are able to take some time this weekend to add your list on the spreadsheet please do so. If you are a mood reader you can take this as a guide to see what could be your priorities on choosing.

I hope you enjoyed your Feb reading as much as I did. Looking forward to a fun March!

The author of The Trees is not a woman, but I suppose just that their names both start with an A could work? I didn’t think of that.

I can do Blue 4, Blue 7, and Green 8. Unless that is too greedy. I’ll go ahead and put them on the ss since I plan to read them either way.

message 257: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments I have books for an 8 blue, a 2/4/6 red and a 4 green.

I discovered this month that the cards that are hard to get are the 5s and 7s. I read some books I might not have read if I weren't trying for those cards. Can't say if that was a good or bad thing.

Vivi | 137 comments Hi, finished Spark (Elemental, #2) by Brigid Kemmerer .

It fits Red 2, 4 or 6 cards.

It's Updated in the Spreadsheet and in my UNO shelf.

message 260: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments Great start to the month Vivi and Elena! Here’s hoping we finish before the last day of the month in March. My goal is to read more books in March than February (an all time record for me) but I have Spring Break in this month and a bit of book burnout going🥴

I would love it if you would let us know if you recommend the books you are finishing. I’m always looking for new ideas.

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments OMG yes im always looking for book reccs!!!!!!

GOOD MORNING everyone! happy march :) Im sorry about my absence last month, everything has been insane. I took way more of a role in some research stuff that Im doing and it really took a toll on my time and my brain; Im motivated to be better this month and next month for yall!!!!!!

Veronica and I are gonna do some chatting today to see what we think works better for everyone; Im okay with being planners and claiming cards if that is what yall want, but I still would like everyone to put every card option into the spread, just in case. We can have a copy of the official board for everyone to edit and change and a copy for just me and Veronica to use officially, if thats what yall want. Let me know :)

Im messaging our two absent members now; I'll let the pixie know that were missing them today too so hopefully we get some replacements quickly.

ALSOOO Im gonna finish the official spread today, (its just adding links to the books and stuff that I have to do lol what a time dump) and I'll let yall know when everything is completely done :)

happy march! So excited to see yall are already finishing books :D

message 262: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Guys we were only 4 books away from FINISHING the mini which is AMAZING considering that we have two missing; go team!!!!!!!!!

Can everyone do a double check to make sure that all of the their books so far are on their UNO shelf? They dont count if they arent; plus its easier for me to find :)

message 263: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Good morning everyone :).

Vivi and Elena, way to go!

I just want to give you a start up on March, according to the info on the spreadsheet as of today.

As Felicity mentioned, the 5(I) and 7(V) are harder to come by.
With the books on the spreadsheet we are on track with most of the cards, but if some of our teammates that hadn't planned or mood read can find some of those that would be great. Also 1(O) and 9(N), this month we got a lot of 9's.

As for the color cards, seems reds wont be much of an issue (as long as the books planned are finished of course). @Lynne you mentioned you could do Blue 4, Blue 7, and Green 8, do you have options for those? Or do you offer to find them? If it's too much we could leave open some of those options for the others to look for.

I'll try to give you another update on Friday if there's changes/books finished on the spreadsheet.

Happy March reading!

message 265: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments My plan as of right now is to try and update the spreadsheet every other night; thats usually my work schedule. I cant promise I'll stick to it but were gonna give it the ole college try

Oops I had added my three books for the color cards to the February ss. I just moved them to March!

Thanks for the update. I haven’t planned the rest of my books for the month, but I’ll try to shoot for choices that work for 5, 7, and 9.

Between the bottom and the buildings, it looks yellow enough to me!

message 269: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments I do not see that we came close to our mini challenge. Is that somewhere other than with the monthly spreads? I only see 25 books.

message 270: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Oh woopsies i did everything on the official OFFICIAL board, I can copy it so everyone can see :)

message 271: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments WOW! Just finished my first book for March and it was powerful. Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy. The animals of the world are dying and a woman wants to the follow the last of the arctic terns from the Arctic to Antarctica. Poetic, atmospheric, tragic and despairing but in the end a story of hope.

I think that is a very good idea!
Being able to edit a copy of the official board will help us see what cards are 'taken/being read to' and what cards are 'left to take/read'. It might help us planners to pick books too.

message 274: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments Wanted to make sure I did this right. I entered my info in the copy of the Official Board but discovered the formula for the points for the book doesn't work so I manually input what the book earned us.

Welcome back Jodi!

It's great you and your daughter are together now. I wish all the best for you in this difficult times. I hope this UNO thing is something that can provide joy and distraction for a little while.

We got a lot of books finished and it's only Wednesday, yay! I'm embarrassed not to be one of the contributors, I haven't had much time this week, and today I've been in the kitchen since morning, it's my daughters' 11th birthday and I made cake and cookies and her favorite meals, and I'm soooo tired, and the kitchen looks like a battle zone. So I will probably finish my audiobook, my companion in the kitchen. Makes the cleaning bearable.

I live in Baja California, Mexico and today it's raining. The weather here is crazy. Yesterday was dry and sunny. Tomorrow who knows. We have a saying here: "Febrero loco, Marzo otro poco"... "February is crazy and March a little bit more". Yep, very accurate.

Verónica | 417 comments Hi.

To complete the first two hands we need a 7(V), a Reverse and two 9(N)'s.

For the reverse we have on the table:

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The Secret History
The Immortalists

Someone has one of those on their weekend plans?
Please check if you have read any of books on the spreadsheet, maybe we have more.

For the 7 we have:

The Body Keeps the Score
How the Penguins Saved Veronica
Leaving Time
Into the Drowning Deep

I can take one of the 9's, the other options are:

How the Penguins Saved Veronica
Miss Benson's Beetle
String Boys
Five Plays of
Into the Drowning Deep

Please post a comment if you will take one of those cards. Or if you are reading something you might finish soon but didn't put it on the spreadsheet post a comment too.

@Lynne, you marked one book finished but it doesn't have any info on the cards (For Darkness Shows the Stars). Could you check that out please?

So sorry, I have filled it in now.

Lynne | 94 comments I’ll be finished with Into the Drowning Deep tonight, so that can work for 7 or 9, whichever is needed.
And my next book is The Eyre Affair, and I will have that done by Saturday, and that definitely works for 9 (not sure about 7).

Thank you Lynne. That was a 9. So that leaves just the 7 and reverse.

message 292: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments I am reading The Mothers and should finish it tomorrow or the next day. That will work for a 9.

I am loving it! It’s got sci-fi, horror, a little fantasy, a little f/f romance, and just plain good storytelling. I don’t usually read horror so I’m a little freaked out but in a fun way!

message 294: by Alejandra (new)

Alejandra | 225 comments I'm going to try to stay away from long books out of my comfort zone this month. in February I tried 2 that that I wouldn't have read if not for the challenge, and were over 500pages, so it took me way more than usual to get through them.

Hi Jodi, Glad your daughter is back home. the recovery process can be overwhelming, but hope that everything goes well for you and your daughter.

Would this count as yellow?
Worth Any Price (Bow Street Runners, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
really liked it

message 295: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments I don't think the first book counts as yellow. I am with you on not reading books just for the challenge. Hopefully we won't feel the need to do that this month with a more up to date accounting of what needs read. I am hoping to read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo soon. Did you read Daisy Jones and the Six? I really liked that one.

message 296: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments I am wondering, if Lynne used The Seven Husbands for a 8 green card and now Alejandra read it, can we count it as a reverse in hand one?

message 297: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Felicity wrote: "I am wondering, if Lynne used The Seven Husbands for a 8 green card and now Alejandra read it, can we count it as a reverse in hand one?"

Yes and done :).

Since we're too early in the game I think we can fit whatever we choose to read, we have a lot of cards available. Maybe by half we can start focusing more on the ones missing in the hands top-down. I just want you to know which ones can be completed so you take that as a guide if you're undecided on what to read next.

For the next hand we need a 6 Red, and 4(F). And there are more Reverse coming. My next read can fill one of those.

message 298: by Verónica (last edited Mar 07, 2021 06:50PM) (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Also, please check if you have the books finished on your UNO shelf.

I didn't find the books for:

Lynne -All the Stars and Teeth
Alejandra - The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo

We (Captain and Co-Captain) have to put a link of the books on the Official Spreadsheet, and it has to be the edition read by the team member.

message 299: by Felicity (new)

Felicity Larrick | 615 comments I am reading The Chicken Sisters which will fulfill the 6. I should have it done in the next day or 2. Veronica- you should read Nothing to See Here. It was my first book written by Kevin Wilson and I read all the rest of his books last year. They are clever, quirky and fun with some serious themes.

message 300: by Verónica (new)
