Both of them are stuck in unhappy marriages, and Tenley is constantly put down for her "lack of ambition" (though Brooks appreciated her homeware line when her pillows and candles washed up on shore). Hopefully being stranded on a deserted island will let them change their lives. Plus, the monkey is adorable. (hide spoiler)]

50% (view spoiler)[ So, in most of the stranded-on-a-deserted-island books the characters are single and free to fall in love... in this case, as Tenley said, Brooks is her husband's best friend and her best friend's husband, so they can't act on their desires for each other. Somehow, I doubt either of their spouses are doing the same resisting in the outside world. (hide spoiler)]
