Depends on the book. If the author's writing style is bugging me I'll probably DNF much earlier than just due to the story/plot. But if I get to 50-60% and I'm still not feeling it I'll DNF

if there's a character that I love maybe I will try to push through and read as much as i can before it becomes unbearable
I read that if the author can’t grab their reader by the first 50 pages of their book, they failed their “hook.” So, I typically go by that rule but sometimes I’ll rough it out if I really want to give the book a chance.
Honestly just depends on my mood and why I am not enjoying a book. I hate to not finish something and if it's an easy read I will just push through. But there are some books I can't even do that, I will pick it up again and again but always put it down quickly or get distracted, after a few tries I will just DNF it and move on.
For me, it depends on the book. Some books are so good that I can't put them down, others are just really slow and I don't want to read any more of it. A good suggestion that my teacher a couple years back said is: Read 20 pages of a book, and if you still don't like it, then don't read it anymore. She said that so we gave the book a fair chance. For other books, somethimes I'll read a good amount of it, but then I'll lose interest, or I'll read half of the book, take a break, and by the time I've come back to it, then I have no idea what the book is even about. That is usually a good sign that the book sucks, if the characters aren't memorable.
