I liked this story. I knew Isaac, Chase and Justin had a secret, but I really didn't think they were behind the murder. I was leaning more toward Kieran or Adam...even Piper in a fit of jealousy.
Forgot to add that I was impressed by Haley getting an injured Sharp out of the basement while the house was on fire, then taking off to lead Isaac away from Sharp so he wouldn't shoot him.
I knew they were covering up something but I never imagined it was this bad. They were horrible...nerdy guys who couldn’t seem to get girls so they took them.
Kieran topped my list. Adam was a bit too unbalanced to pull this off but I thought he was torching the houses. I was suspicious of Piper through the end.
Haley was truly impressive at the end. It had to be empowering to finally realize she was neither guilty or crazy.

This is the second book that I've read where a character has Addison's disease. I had to look up exactly what it is. I guess it's when your adrenal glad produces too little cortisol and it's a serious condition. We learn so much from reading these books.
I certainly never got the killers right, I thought Adam was more involved than he was.Looking forward to next book in series, for sure.
I enjoyed the book too. There weren't any glaring issues with it or discrepancies as in a couple of the previous books. The explanation is plausible although there really aren't enough clues for the reader to come to any conclusions of their own.
Adam was my prime suspect for most of the book due to his obvious violent tendencies and his previous attacks on his brother/family at a young age. Setting fires and animal abuse is classic psychopathology. He is going to kill someone one day.
I must say that all of the men (except Lance, Sharp and the sheriff) in this book were despicable in one way or another. They were all predators. It is a very disturbing picture.
That was my observation, too, Lauren, about the men in this story. Esposito sort of wipes out any of his redeemable acts he’s exhibited by his general behavior. Even the sheriff’s apathy neutralizes him. The others are beyond creepy. Noah was also flawed.
I wonder if this was an intentional message by the author.

Jonetta wrote: "I wonder if this was an intentional message by the author"I had to wonder as well. Noah turned out not to be a sympathetic victim at all.
This story does shine a light on despicable male behavior. I liked the story. It kept me on my toes. To me, each book gets a little better than the previous one. Melinda Leigh is improving her skills with each new book.
