Isaac, Chase and Justin raped and killed two women and then killed Noah when he became suspicious. Do you think any of them would have considered doing any of these crimes on their own? Did the group or herd mentality play a factor for all of them?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I really don't know. Maybe Justin would have turned himself in or just stopped stalking/raping women if he were on his own. He seemed regretful, but I didn't know if that was he killed Noah or he was regretful about the whole thing. The fact that Isaac and Chase were there with him seemed to give him the OK to continue.

Issac and Chase both seemed to be more into the whole crime spree. I don't think either of them had a conscience.

Isaac enjoyed the killing so I put him in the psychopathic category. I think when he strangled the second woman (Shannon), Justin got spooked. He seemed to have agreed to killing Noah but his conscience was killing him. Chase seemed to be a follower, ready to go wherever Isaac wanted.

I made Chase and Justin as followers who would never do something like this on their own. A little alcohol and group think pushed them into doing this. But Isaac? He would have continued solo.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Isaac was definitely the ringleader of the group.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I thought that Morgan and/or Lance categorized both Isaac and Chase as psychopaths. Maybe I was reading too fast at the end of the book.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments Yes, there was definitely herd mentality at work here.

I agree with Jonetta that Isaac was the ringleader and he enjoyed hurting the women and killing them. Once he got a taste for it, he would never stop.

While Justin may have felt guilty about killing Shannon, it is really Noah's murder that plagued him the most.

There isn't enough information on Chase to form an opinion other than that he would do whatever Isaac told him to do.
