Robin P | 5742 comments This book was . . . fine. I love to read about 19th century France and I like Impressionist art. However, just like Luncheon of the Boating Party and The Other Alcott, this is a bit flat. I think it's because it's hard to describe in writing the process of painting (probably the same for books describing creating music.) I like that the author stuck with historical fact and didn't create romance that wasn't there. It describes the relationship, such as it is, between Mary Cassatt and Edgar Degas, with the love triangle of Manet, his brother, and Berthe Morissot in the background.
