It helps to read something entertaining and fun.
I'd recommend something by Jeff Strand. His books are easy to get started and often are funny too. The Wolf Hunt series is great.
Another author I really enjoy is Jonathan Maberry. Try his Joe Ledger series or the Dead of Night series.

I found Gunslinger very slow, though I love most of King. Maybe something shorter? I recommend author Austin Crawley, especially his Holiday Tales series.

Nancy (mcnurdy) Have you read "The Elementals" by Michael McDowell? It's 292 pages, a quick read and one of the scariest novels I've ever read.
