Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments This thread is to discuss Turtles All the Way Down by John Green.

Pages: 286 pages

Length: 1 Month (February)

Participants: Alyana Pearl, Sinisa, Lennon, Jaida.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

Alyana | 1201 comments Hi buddies, I might be able to start this on Friday. How about you?

Sinisa | 385 comments I will try soon after that like Sunday or Monday

Ushashi (ushashib) | 428 comments Hey everyone, I am reading this now too. I'll join in with you all in the discussion :)

Ushashi (ushashib) | 428 comments Hi, I started reading last night. In chapter 6 now. (view spoiler)

I'm on Chapter 8 and I agree with your observations.

Alyana | 1201 comments I'm almost finished with the book.
(view spoiler)

Ushashi (ushashib) | 428 comments I am still around half. The story is not engaging me yet. And I am finding the dialogues rather annoying.

I feel guilty of suggesting this as a buddy read.

Hey, don't feel bad. There's no way of knowing without reading the book

Sinisa | 385 comments At chapter 7 and I like it. It is light and fun. I agree that Daisy is being lively, jolly and fun character and I like her. That internet deep dive was funny and in real stalker style. To me looks like she is obsessive on opposite scale of lethargic Aza and it kind of makes it nice pair. So far for me one of those easy/fun read and sometimes you need that

Sometimes we need this but maybe it's not just what I expected from John Green.

I haven't read anything his before and he was on my tbr a long time. This isn't fantastic but I am enjoying it. I saw that film by his book and I liked it a lot and didn't want to read that story I know. Anything else you recommend more than this?

Was it The Fault In Our Stars? This is my third book from him. I've listened to Looking for Alaska ( I think this was his first book) and Let It Snow (it's a collaboration and holiday themed). I would say that I'm looking for a book from him that is on the same level of TFIOS or better. I still have two books of him on my TBR (Papertown and Will Grayson, Will Grayson) that I plan to read this year.

Yes The Fault In Our Stars, i didn't know it is by a book when I saw it. I wanted to read Looking for Alaska because i though it is something with Alaska wilderness but then you suggested this

Looking for Alaska is YA too but you can give that one a try :)

Ushashi (ushashib) | 428 comments I have finished. It didn't work for me and surprisingly that's because of the writing. After reading The Fault in Our Stars, I was more impressed with John Green's writing style than the story. But something was amiss in this one. Anyway, I still plan to give Looking for Alaska a shot sometime.
