Michelle (emm_enchanted) I've recently started reviewing books and I was wondering, what if a book description or genre doesn't appeal to you and you decide not to accept the book? How do you communicate that politely to the author?
Also, what if you have accepted a book but are unable to get into it? What do you do?

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 28 comments For your first question - I do just what you said - politely tell the sender that you don’t read or review that genre or that you are not interested in the book.

For your second question - I will write back to the sender (author, publisher, etc) and explain that I didn’t like the book and be sure to explain why. I do that instead of posting negative reviews and have gotten many messages of thanks and appreciation for doing so. Learned my lesson after posting a negative review and getting hammered by the author and a few of his fans.
