Ashley Basile (smashreads) So, I've read most of the usual suspects in this genre and I have Kindle Unlimited, so I've been working my way through those.

What are your favorite, not-so-known, books?

I have KU/Prime, so if it's on there, great. I'm not opposed to buying a book either, so any and all recommendations are great!

TamaraT | 4 comments If you want truly fantastic series I highly recommend looking into:

The Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh (angels, vampires and kickass female main character) https://www.goodreads.com/series/4794...

The Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh (so, so addictive. I'm not up to date on this because this series is so good I want the physical books for my collection)
https://www.goodreads.com/series/4145...

The Pure/Dark Ones by Aja James (the first book might be a bit much at times but the authof really improved with the 2nd and man it only got better)
https://www.goodreads.com/series/8550...

That's just my top 3 but I can think of more if you want

Chrissy (bookwormchrissy) | 31 comments One of my favorite lesser-known series is The Sentinels of New Orleans by Suzanne Johnson (first book Royal Street)

And I wholeheartedly agree with LiteratureLover that The Guild Codex series by Annette Marie is great. I love both the Spellbound and the Demonized books.

Two of my absolute favorites that I always recommend to people are:
Cainsville by Kelley Armstrong, starting with Omens
October Daye by Seanan McGuire, starting with Rosemary and Rue

I also really enjoyed these:
Alex Verus by Benedict Jacka, starting with Fated
Alex Craft by Kalayna Price, starting with Grave Witch

Although there are a few lesser known titles that have been mentioned already (yea for those), there are also some of the big hitters, the one's that most readers of this sub-genres know about already. So my contributions of not-so-known ones are;

Death's Dancer (Grace Bloods, #1) by Jasmine Silvera Dancer's Flame (Grace Bloods, #2) by Jasmine Silvera The Talon & the Blade by Jasmine Silvera a five star trilogy for all sorts of reasons including the gorgeous writing and the unique premise and location. This deserves so much more love.

Wicked Game (WVMP Radio, #1) by Jeri Smith-Ready Crossroads (WVMP Radio, #1.1) by Jeri Smith-Ready Rave On (WVMP Radio, #1.2) by Jeri Smith-Ready When The Music's Over (WVMP Radio, #1.3) by Jeri Smith-Ready Last Request (WVMP Radio, #1.4) by Jeri Smith-Ready Bad to the Bone (WVMP Radio, #2) by Jeri Smith-Ready Bring on the Night (WVMP Radio, #3) by Jeri Smith-Ready Let It Bleed (WVMP Radio, #3.5) by Jeri Smith-Ready Lust for Life (WVMP Radio, #4) by Jeri Smith-Ready One of the most fun 'vampire only' series I've read, and one where the romance is actually an enhancement to the story rather than getting in the way of the action.

Wolfsong (Green Creek, #1) by T.J. Klune Ravensong (Green Creek, #2) by T.J. Klune Lovesong (Green Creek, #2.5) by T.J. Klune Heartsong (Green Creek, #3) by T.J. Klune Feralsong (Green Creek, #3.5) by T.J. Klune Lovesong Part II (Green Creek, #3.6) by T.J. Klune Brothersong (Green Creek, #4) by T.J. Klune Well known in some circles, not in others, this is the most beautifully written, angsty, funny and heartfelt UF/PNR series period. A lifelong favourite for so many reasons.

Some standalones;
Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia The Un-Life of William Moore by Dana Lockhart An Unkindness of Magicians (An Unkindness of Magicians, #1) by Kat Howard Becoming Vampire Diary of an Alligator Queen by Winter Reid The Gilda Stories by Jewelle L. Gómez Curse of the Amber by Kathryn Troy The Black God's Drums by P. Djèlí Clark Not If You Were the Last Vampire On Earth by Cara Coe Odd Spirits by S.T. Gibson Cabin Fever by Alisha Rai Addicted to Witch by Billy London Vexed by Wren Michaels Going Nowhere by Lena North The Provider by Mya Lairis Cravings and Triggers by Gisele Walko Beignets and Fangs by Gisele Walko Hunting Season (The Gathering, #1) by Shelly Laurenston Moondance by Linda K. Hopkins Sanctuary A Noire Immortals Story by Alexandria House Invidious Betrayal by Shea Swain My Immortal by Ginger Voight The Headmaster by Tiffany Reisz Bear with Me by Lucy Eden

Robin (rockin_robin) | 81 comments An author I haven't seen mentioned but is great and pretty much all her books are available on KU is Amanda M. Lee Multiple series that occasionally cross-over, fun characters and good writing.

Jane Cousins' To Woo A Warrior Southern Sanctuary series is also fabulous. I think the first few were available on KU, but then I liked the books enough to buy the rest of them.

Jace (jace_is_reading) Okay, have you tried any of these?

Book ones that were good but that I haven't gotten to the other books in the series cause I suck at that:
is on prime> Magic Forged (Hall of Blood and Mercy, #1) by K.M. Shea is not on prime>* Trying To Live With The Dead (The Veil Diaries, #1) by B.L. Brunnemer * Crossroads (Crossroads Saga, #1) by Mary Ting

Books from series that I've finished or actually got around to continuing {I'm only adding book ones from these}:
* The Lost Witch (The Coven Elemental Magic #1) by Chandelle LaVaun is on prime>* Wicked Witch (The Royals Witch Court #1) by Megan Montero

And a random book that I'm still reading but thought I'd add cause it's on prime: Of the Blood (Heir of Blood and Fire, #1) by Cameo Renae

Hope this helps! You can also look at my shelf if ya want more!

Edit: if it has a * to the left of it it's on KU

Cozen | 42 comments What!!! You don’t have any Kresley Cole listed on you shelves!?

It might not be on KU but most all of her books can be attainable through most libraries. Usually through most e-book program or through apps like Libby.

It’s her Immortals After Dark series that I’m talking about. Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night. Big series but these books can be considered as stand-alones, meaning they all have a beginning, middle, and end. There is an on going plot but they don’t really need to be read in order always.

She also has a great Arcana Chronicle series. The first book Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1) by Kresley Cole Poison Princess is not what it seems. What starts off as a typical cheerleading/angsty drama evolves around chapter 13. By the end of the book you have a dystopia/PR/fantasy book and no weak female lead. Here’s a link to the book trailer for the second book in the series. It tell it better than I can about the series.
https://www.thearcanachronicles.com/

Laura Adrian has an interesting series Midnight Breed A Touch of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #0.5) by Lara Adrian A Touch of Midnight Its a different take on vampires.

And this last series I know is currently on KU or at least the first book is. Dark Cravings (Dark, #1) by Madeline Pryce Dark Cravings by Madeline Pryce. It’s hotter than most of these other books I mentioned.

Hope this helps.

I need to try Cole again. I read one book and didn't love it... so I haven't picked up another. I am open to it though, honestly I might even own one!

If you don't mind a paranormal bully romance, I recently discovered The Zodiac Academy on KU after seeing a recommendation on Goodreads and I am hooked, it's become one of my favourite reads of all time! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zodiac-Acade...

The first two books in Immortals After Dark series didn’t impress me much either. I happened to pick up Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night as the first book to read in that series. It took me a year or so to realize that it was a whole series. One thing to know about Cole, she takes her time with the journey and everything in it has an important tie in. It’s not for a some readers but if you do decide to give it another try, I’d suggest Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s night.

Quite a few have complained about these beginings
The Warlord Wants Forever (Immortals After Dark, #0.5) by Kresley Cole & A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #1) by Kresley Cole
Though it looks like it has been fix for those as 1 & 2 and now post at 0.5 & 1 which it should. They both have over bearing men and even outright or questionably non-consensual sexual situations.
I personally loved
No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole , which is Sebastian's book and is intertwined (a lot) with Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night. He is a scholarly recluse when our valkarie comes to kill him. One of my favorites, though the next is great too.

Let's make sure we are kind to one another. I can't see a reason this reply was necessary. Sometimes it's ok to just remain silent.

Thank you for your suggestions Aja Marie! I am OLD (well 35) and I enjoy YA, as well as Adult. :)
