Thanks for giving us an update. I got my best friend a shadow box that also held the flag and his metals and engraved the front glass for her father’s flag. I have my grandfather’s flag displayed at my house. Grief counseling is a good thing.
Oh, Shelley, that sounds so nice. What a wonderful gift idea. I am looking forward to seeing what the counselors have to say. I have already received an invitation to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with one of my cousins and her family. Wasn't that nice? Those first holidays are the tough ones. I have a good support system and I think I will be fine. Thanks for all the comments.
I'm so deeply sorry for your loss, Jeanne. Reading about the service at the gravesite was sad, moving and heartwarming all at once. The obituary was lovely, and yes he was handsome! I am heartened to hear how you are getting through this early stage and with your support system. God be with you. I'm keeping you in my prayers.
Thanks, Michelle. It is well. I'm doing things in small stages... to not overwhelm me. I will then rest and try to do something that is pleasing to me. Then I can tackle something else. I see my lawyer tomorrow for the second time to finalize things. I'm waiting for the death certificate before I can make changes. Many places require it for their records. It's getting done. I'm eating a bit now, sleeping more than I was, and resting when I'm tired or overwhelmed. I'm OK.

Again - fantastic!
Saturday was the grief conference. That was really good. The speaker hit several areas that I had not considered. A neighbor lady went with me. Her husband died the Monday before Phil died on Saturday. That was two gentlemen from the same neighborhood within the same week. Sunday was our 50th anniversary. It was a bit emotional but I got through the day. It is well. I just wanted to give a brief update.
Thank you for sharing with us. I am sure it was a difficult day, Sunday. May GOD give you peace.
Stay true to yourself. The difficult days still come but are more and more survivable. Love and hope to you.

Religious Element: discussions of angels, demons, and a very different perspective of God and what happens behind the veil. This might be offensive to some. The author acknowledges that point in an explanation at the beginning of the one-chapter story. It was interesting but disconcerting… I will give you that. You need to have full shields up and engaged to read this.

As 2021 draws to a close... I just want to say to all my Goodreads friends... you have been such a blessing to me over the last two years. I have seen many struggles with my husband's health and then his passing just a few months ago. Even though I am in mourning, I feel so blessed to have so many that checked on me throughout the year. I appreciate you letting me act silly at times and make jokes with me. This group has been my family when we were isolated. It has been a lifeline when I was alone and didn't know what to do. I've received advice in so many areas and sometimes just a simple "I'm thinking about you." Those are precious moments for me. I hope to be able to return the kindness this next year. Blessings to all in this group. Y'all are the best. Happy New Year and may God Richly Bless You All

Last December my brother's funeral also had a military Honor Guard (He was in the Navy during Viet Nam.) perform the flag folding ceremony and give it to my sister-in-law, so I know how moving that is.
