I agree with that.
I agree with that.

nuuuuu I couldn't handle Hermoine being evil :/"
Me neither lol

we cannot have ANY actors from movies we need completely new ones because of something Madame lemon brought up
it basically went like this
me; Scarlett Johansson as eda
Lemon; won't Sophie freak out if she realizes eda is black widow??
(probably nowhere near accurate but whatev basically what we commented) :P

but.... knowing these movie peeps that's probably not going to happen :/

Technically all of them should have pretty dark skin and dark curly hair since they live in a completely globalized society and have never had any racial biases. Which is why it makes no sense that a ton of them are blond and white because darker skin tones and hair colors are dominant genes (it's actually a lot more complicated than that but that's it basically). Then again, I don't think Shannon actually knows that much about genetics based on this and some of the other stuff in the books. Also, depending on when they decided to have nothing to do with humans (I forget when that was sorry), they shouldn't really have a concept of race since there is no race gene; it's just a socially constructed way to categorize people that was used as an excuse to colonize the African content and kickstart the African slave trade. But also, if the elven world is such a perfect society that has never held any racial biases, I'm guessing that they immediately would've rejected that idea, even if they still somehow had distinct races despite their global society and lack of racial discrimination.
Additionally, her portrayal of the Wylie, Maruca, and the Songs isn't great either. In Wylie's case, he's one of the most prominent black characters... with a father in prison? I guess Shannon didn't see that that was not really a great idea, to put it lightly, somehow??? Also, Maruca talks pretty stereotypically, which isn't necessarily bad, but if there's no actual reason for her to other than her skin color, than it's pretty messed up if everyone else just speaks in varying elven accents. And then there's the Songs... Does Shannon realize that Asia is a continent, not a country? Because the Song twins have been described as looking like K-pop stars (Korean) but also Anime characters (Japanese). Also their first names are Vietnamese, but their last name is Chinese. And their family is literally an over exaggerated strict Asian family stereotype. It just... doesn't work out...
Please correct me if I got anything wrong, but I can't see how Shannon's racial representation can really be considered good. It feels like it pretty much lost any potential after the worldbuilding was laid out then just continued to get more screwed up.

That's definitely possible, but when Shannon talks about the assembled Vacker family, for example, she talks about how they have every hair color, skin color, body type, ect.. Because of this, I fail to see how so many of the characters would be white. I'm pretty sure that Prentice and Cyrah were the only distinctly mentioned mixed race couple, which just doesn't make sense if they have no racial biases and everything. And the Vackers should probably be multiracial... And the population should at least look somewhat homogenous, especially given how far back a lot of those families seem to go back... So Shannon just really kinda messed that up
hi people I was just looking at some photos people have posted online and someone thinks Chris Hemsworth should play Grady. can we just say I'm a little surprised.

But honestly, I think that people like Oralie can be famous, but the kids (Sophie, Dex, Biana, Keefe...) should be played by kids (like me haha) who aren't famous, but are looking up to being an actor. Does that make any sense?
It's also what makes fan casting so hard, becuase you can only cast famous people.

Lol ig. Idk, I think picking people would be so hard. I would make a HORRIBLE casting director 😂

i'm hoping they'll have an original cast instead of a bunch of famous ones, mostly because some of those actors have their own ,, like .,,, iconic character. if i saw tom holland in the kotlc movie as alvar or something, id be wondering why and how spiderman got into the lost cities.
also alvar's... rough and harsh and sharp, which doesn't really suit tom

that's fair but it'd still be weird to see him as alvar

plus the features + hair color is *hah??*

Emma Watson as Lady Gisela
Tom Holland as either Elwin or Alvar
Mckenna Grace as Biana or Marella
Asher Angel as Fitz
I feel like Blake LIvely could be sophie
but it would be so much better because the actors would grow with the characters, the movies, and us
