(view spoiler)[ ahhh, I love Mav's mom so much. I'm really glad that she's gotten some happiness from Moe, she deserves it more than anyone. I can only imagine, wanting your child to grow up with everything you didn't have, but she's soon going to find out he's selling drugs and it's going to break her heart because his father was a drug dealer too. I really hope Mav learns soon, I know he's doing what he has to to survive, but it's breaking my heart too. (hide spoiler)]

I do feel like the ending was a little rushed though, I wish we could spend more time with Lisa and Mav before Starr was born, but I guess it wouldn't have been as interesting then (hide spoiler)]

well this book is good

so im about 30% of the way through this now. and i already love it.
(view spoiler)[ the last chapter, 9 i think, was left on a massive cliff hanger and dre being shot on the head which broke my heart. mavericks obviously having a tough time with the baby and i feel like this could break him. I love how much he loves his child already deapite parenting being hard, he really cares.

i dont know how hes gonna get back lisa tho so thats intriguing. his new job and school seems like a handful, but mr wyatt seems like a good guy. i think he has tough love, being strict because he wants maverick to be a better dad and not get into gangs. so far loving it! (hide spoiler)]

so i just finished part 1. Germination and i can tell why its called that. It has the theme of things getting started. maverick has a son now.

(view spoiler)[ i also found out at the end of chapter 11 that lisa and maverick are back together. after the death of dre, i think lisa took pity on him. they got in bed together and well, that relationship is restarting too. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ lisa had a bomb shell to drop, shes now pregnant too. maverick has messed up bad. he then goes to see his dad in prison with the baby, Seven. everything is going okay until he tells him lisa is pregnant. don is not happy at all and they argue until he storms out. I also couldnt believe lisa had been kicked out. i remember ms rosalie the sweets lady from the hate u give, and i think lisa is going to be ok (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ they just had thanksgiving and i thought it was very rude of king and iesha to show up just for the food. I hope mav and iesha can sort something out with seven. I know king and iesha got together because of The Hate U Give. Carlos is meaner than i thought tho. he hates mav and beat him up for "ruining lisas life".

In the next chapter lisa and mav go to the hospital for examinations on the baby. i thought this was a moment of hope for their relationship, as they see the heartbeat of their baby. it was quite beautiful actually (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ i love how mav talks to dre, i think he really misses him. maverick had a talk about his grades and theyre not good enough to graduate. i really feel for him but he seems to have given up with education. i really hope he doesnt.

maverick started dealing drugs again :( he was struggling with money so i see why.

also his ma is bisexual and is dating moe! i love to see this sort of representation

he also thinks hes found dres killer, red, who's a street seller. he was wearing dre's watch. i hope it doesnt end in violence or death...... (hide spoiler)]
