I liked this book, but I'm not sure it's a Level 1 book. Not because of anything offensive-there's no language/sex/gory violence-it just seems to be a more involved read. There are long descriptive passages, some references that I think many in this age group wouldn't understand. I can't nail down what I think. The story was different and original, the characters were well rounded, the themes were clear. But I think it would bore most younger readers. Still, I give it a 3/5

This book had such a good story line, but it just didn't live up to it. I found myself skimming through the last half of the book. Really unique idea, but I feel like something was missing. 3/5
