Think of it this way. Porg I don’t think you should hate Harry Potter because Carry On stemmed from Harry Potter. With the logic that you hate Harry Potter and wish it was never a thing, you wouldn’t have had Carry On
thank you porg. i read the first hp book and hated it.
it just felt like harry had no flaws.
meanwhile, simon has many that aren’t insanely problematic but are respectable and can cause problems. he’s quick-tempered, he’s selfish at times, he’s uneducated (which isn’t quite his fault, considering the Mage is a fascist and doesn’t want him to become educated), and he has a lot of internalised homophobia to work out because the option of being anything other than straight and the fact that if he wasn’t straight would be okay was never presented to him, is why i like him. it makes it easier to see yourself in characters that have flaws. that have issues. i don’t see myself in someone perfect who can do no wrong.
