I am currently reading a Stephen King with more than 500 pages (I guess there is not one book of him which is shorter :D). So I think the long books will be covered :)
Yes, I think some of the tasks (the ones about page lengths, and the bonus spell-it-out tasks) will be easy to cover with just our normal reading, so I don’t think we will necessarily need to claim those. Just when you post your books, if they’re within the mini eligible period that starts tomorrow, state what they could be used for. For other tasks that require a little bit more planning, like a specific word in text, a specific plot point, etc. — those we may want to claim ahead of time.
I believe there are also several Stephen King books published in the 80s too aren’t there? And published in the 80s in one of the tasks too :)
I'm not sure if it's one that needs to be claimed, but I am planning to read a book by EM Lindsey, an author whose first name begins with E.

Also... are anyone else's notifications acting up? For the last few days, I've not been getting them until several hours after new comments. For example right now my latest notification was for Gwen's comment "six hours ago" ... even though three more people have commented since then, and that comment was actually from 14 hours ago...I'm trying to remember to check in on this thread even if I don't have a notification for it. But wanted to let you all know that if it takes me a long while to respond while it's daytime where I live, that could be why!

As far as claiming goes -- I think we should try to claim at least 1-22 and 31a-38a. The others I think can be filled in naturally by what we're reading anyway (I know many of you are reading for other challenges as well).
I don't know -- What do you all think? I know last month with tasks we ended up shuffling things around as time went on just because books unexpectedly fit tasks they hadn't been read for. So I kind of like the idea of leaving the "easier" tasks open for those types of situations ... but I also don't want to have two people start reading something that will work for an unclaimed task and accidentally have a feeling of stepping on each other's toes, you know?
The main challenge tasks will be the priority, because of the bonus points we get if we finish them, but I am guessing based on our reading last month that we will get into the bonus tasks as well. B14-B21 would be the ones we should claim since those would be harder to fill. (Though with this team, B18 will be filled easily without ever having to be claimed!)
Let me know your thoughts -- if we should claim just the more challenging ones and then let our other planned reads fill in the "easier" ones, or if we should claim all of them.
I'm going to take 38a just because the book I'm planning on starting next will fill that task.I also should be able to take either 1 or 3 (On the Way to the Wedding is #8 in the series and has E-I-G-H-T in the title) -- so once someone else claims one of those, I will claim the other.
Another note ... I just realized that when I pasted the task list yesterday, the listopia tasks didn't pull it the right lists. Here are the right lists. They've been corrected in the original post too. So if you checked the lists yesterday, be sure to check these instead!
36a*: read a book from the Listopia The Movie was Better than the Book
37a*: read a book from the Listopia The Book was Better than the Movie
There are also a few Stephen Kings on both, just FYI :)

I need to read Fourth Point of Contact: The Warden and the General that has E I G H T in the title .
As regards some of the others, there seems a lot that have things that are in the text which are not as easy to find so ill spebd a bit of time later and see what i can find

Perfect! I'll put you down for that and I'll use mine for the #8 in series.
And sounds good! I'm going to go through some books I'm planning to read and see if I can do a search to see if any of them have those words as well.

The book I'm reading for my blue cover has an 8 in the page count, so I potentially can cover that one if it doesn't end up working for anything more challenging.

You'd think they'd make it a priority because I'm sure a lot of GR users use e-readers -- and it just seems like you'd want users to be able to jump from their readings apps to the GR app.... but they certainly make it challenging!

I also have books im reading that cover28- read a book with 351-400 pages
And
29- 401-450pages
So i can take those.
Kimber✌ wrote: "Wait #36a is a book we already read correct? Or do I need to read a book I haven't read yet?"It can be something you've already read, but it doesn't have to be. As long as it has been at least six months since you last read it, it's fine.
36a and 37a are OK. I've already got 38a covered. But it looks like the second Mr Mercedes book that you are currently reading we could fit in other places -- like MPG Mystery/Thriller. So we can still work them in :)
Ive got published in the 80s covered and same sex relationship Also i can do B14 - B21 , as long as His Fair Lady is fabulous enough
I can also do # 9 / 11/ 17 / 19But if anyone else wants to do any i asked for, feel free to take them 😊😊
I agree with just claiming those ones you mentioned. Will try to have a look at what is left and what I am planning to read.
Diane wrote: "I agree with just claiming those ones you mentioned. Will try to have a look at what is left and what I am planning to read."Ive left you all the hard ones Diane 😊😊😊..take some of above if you want
That's cool Janeylou, I am in the middle of listening to Mad Lizard Mambo and really think that Kai Gracen would be considered a bad-ass character, so could take #13. On the other hand, he was created in a lab by an evil genius and then found his humanity later, so was wondering if this would work for 31a, because he is like the Terminator character in that way.
Ack! I just found the word 'Neon' on page 35 of a book I am planning to read Thrown to the Wolves. Sentence: 'Unlike any medical equipment he'd ever seen, the caps were a bright, near neon purple.'

OK, just found the word Walkman too -- In Pansies on page 49: ."...listening to whatever he listened to on that Sony Walkman he carried everywhere."
In Principles of Spookology, the word spandex is mentioned more than once. On page 156, "It was mostly a bunch of older people in tight, shiny spandex doing poses..."

Janeylou wrote: "Ive got published in the 80s covered and same sex relationship Also i can do B14 - B21 , as long as His Fair Lady is fabulous enough"
Hmm. I don't like the ones that are opinion-based because I'm not sure how fabulous they mean! We all have different interpretations of the word. When I think of fabulous I think of big and poofy. But that is just my interpretation. Any dress can be fabulous to someone.
It does look fancy, so it would probably work.
I also am probably overthinking it!
To make sure I have these right...Kimber:
28*: read a book with 351-400 pages — Kimber
29*: read a book with 401-450 pages — Kimber
36a*: read a book from the Listopia The Movie was Better than the Book
37a*: read a book from the Listopia The Book was Better than the Movie
Two other books that I still need to place (one will likely be for one of the difficult words in texts -- I still need to check what the other will work for.
Diane:
7* read a book with an author name (first or last) starts with E — Diane
8* read a book with the word "neon" in the text
10* read a book with the word "walkman" in the text
20*: read a book with "spandex" in the text or on the cover
20*: read a book with "spandex" in the text or on the cover
31a*: read a book that you can connect to your own team's movie (be as creative as you wish)
Janine:
2* read a book published in the 80s
9* read a book with a character who goes to school or takes part in any kind of course
11* read a book with a character who is a teacher
17*: read a book with a character who plays an instrument
19*: read a book with a character who goes to the hairdresser or stylist
B14*: read a book with a character who is a werewolf
B15*: read a book with a character who is a vampire
B16*: read a book with a character who is a detective or police officer
B17*: read a book with a fabulous dress on the cover
B18*: read a book with a same-sex relationship
B19*: read a book with a character who goes out dancing or clubbing
B20*: read a book with a character who works late into the night
B21*: read a book with a character who has to get up early
Look right?
(Diane if you were just pointing out books you found with the words but weren't claiming them, just let me know and I can remove those!)
Im going to read
And i think it has all the words we need if Diane doesn't claim them.
Its in my earlier post with Kaley.
Also im not getting any of these updates:( idk what is going on today with goodreads.
But what u have me down for is good.
