Some books on the color cover list may not seem like the color cover. This is because GR will show the default version. There may be a specific version that has been shelved that is the actual color. The version you read is what you should shelve, and is what counts, for UNO.

Important rules to remember

❅ All finished books must be marked as read and must be on your Uno shelf.
❅ If you're unsure if a cover falls under a certain color, then ask here and we can talk it over as a group. If we can't come to a decision, I will take it to the captains group.
❅ Books must be more than 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive). Children's books checked in previous years can be seen on this shelf uno-childrens

❅ Have fun!! It's a social challenge, so can get chatty. And while we do want points and want to finish all our cards, this isn't supposed to be a competitive challenge. So enjoy your reading!

Other info
When it comes to cards, I prefer to just read and fill in what is needed rather than "claiming" cards (since sometimes cards need to be shuffled around). However, when it comes to color cards, please do claim those so we know those are covered.

My name is Kaley and I'm your team captain. I live in Indiana (in the US) with my husband and our two dogs and one cat. This is my fifth year (I think) doing UNO!

I've read mostly contemporary romance over the last year, but I also enjoy YA, new adult, and occasionally a good mystery/thriller.

I can't wait to get to know all of you! I've sent all of you a friend request -- please make sure to accept so I can see your shelves for the challenge. Hi Team, I've been so excited about this challenge, a friend has played for the last few years and persuaded some of us to join this year ( Diane & Emilienne).....

Anyway, im Janine from a grey & rainy England , i work part time in a coffee shop and do a lot of voluntary work for the RSPCA, mainly fundraising and fostering ( guinea pigs ) ..i love the little munchkins 😊

Ive been a book addict since forever but for the last 5/6 years ive only been reading MM romance , i do loads of challenges in that group so im sure ill pick up these rules ok

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing! I love reading all kinds of books, especially post-apocalyptic/dystopian, thrillers, fantasy, YA, some sci-fi, horror, memoirs, travel, anything really. I'm excited about this challenge!

Welcome! You can have the both on there. Since the unread ones won't have read dates yet (or if they're rereads the read dates will be old) I'll be able to distinguish between the two.

Fostering guinea pigs sounds so fun and rewarding! I'm an animal lover as well but I've only ever fostered cats. My best friend growing up had a guinea pig and I always wanted one but my mom would never let me have one. I suppose I could always get one now that I'm an adult . . . though I have my hands full with my current animals! :-P

My new years resolution is ' no re reads' i dont know how long it will last but its already been 20 days longer than i thought 😄😄.

Piggies are so easy to look after Kaley but you need 2 not 1 as they like a playmate to chatter to , ive probably had hundreds over the years and such a great first pet for kids

I cant use the GR app , its a nightmare so use the desktop version on my phone instead ..in fact i do everything on my phone , even read all.my books since my tablet broke

Welcome! Yeah, the Goodreads phone app is horrible. I always recommend just using the web. You'd think by now they'd have fixed the app issues but it doesn't seem to be a priority for them.

If you need help, that's what I'm here for :) I know the rules seem very overwhelming at first, but once we get into the actual challenge I bet you'll get the hang of it. It just takes getting used to. Let me know if there are any specific questions I can answer for you!

The mobile app should pop up ..if you scroll to bottom under where it says "App store / google play , it should also say desktop version .click on that and it should appear . Then you can add the desk top version to your home sreen

I'm so excited to be here with all of you. 😊 This is my second year playing UNO, and it was by far my favorite challenge last year so I can't wait to do it again.

I'm 40, and I live with my husband, our 7-year old daughter, and 3 cats in Ottawa, Canada. I'm a business coach for creative women, and I work with a lot of artists, writers, and makers who want to turn their passions into a business.

My favorite genres are thrillers, nonfiction (specifically personal development and business books), fantasy, and science fiction. I read widely in a variety of genres, but I'm not a fan of YA or classics so I tend to stay away from those. Everything else is pretty much fair game, though!

In years past, around the middle of each month the mods announced a mini challenge -- a way for each team to get extra points. (Most teams finish their hands each month, so the mini challenges are really what makes the big difference when it comes to points.) It could be anything from reading a book that fits within a certain task, a certain cover color (outside of the four colors of the main challenge), spell-it-outs . . . anything really. Usually at least one month relates to the theme of the challenge, so I fully expect some sort of 80s themed mini challenge at some point.

At this point, I have no details as to what the mini challenge each month will be. As soon as I know and am allowed to share, I will. Just know that one is likely coming!

I am Franziska, your co-captain. I am 30, live in Germany and since last year (June 26th) I am a mother to a really lively baby girl - so I am on maternity leave at the moment. When not being on maternity leave, I work at a university and try to finish my PhD in Economics.

My favourite genres are thriller, true crime, young adult and novels in general. It’s my third time playing UNO and I love it! :)

You bet! At the moment she’s teething, her first tooth is really painful for her. So it’s hard for her to sleep - or to be precise, to sleep alone. Most of the time she sleeps on my chest / my belly, so that’s the time when I can be on the phone or when I can read :)

It has to be pretty precise. So if it says it's set in Brooklyn, we'd have to use Brooklyn. If it was just generically New York (no specifically mentioned city) we could use New York.

I've never played UNO before, but Helke, a friend of Janeylou, DIane and mine, has convinced us to play. So here I am:
I read almost exclusivement MM romance, but in this genre, I really like thriller, crime and mystery :D

Hi, sorry to be so late, I've had a busy day. My name is Diane and I live in Toronto, Canada -- hello to fellow Canadian Elizabeth as well as former teammates Emilienne and Janeylou! I am a mother of 4 mostly adults (2 sons 26 and 24, 1 daughter 22, a non-binary child who just turned 17). My sons are both on the autism spectrum, and my daughter just graduated from University and had to move home thanks to no jobs in her theatre industry, so we are all living together with my husband and 2 cats. My youngest is still in high school. It is a busy household with 6 adults in it, and my husband is now working full-time from our dining room thanks to Covid, so we are all in the house together a LOT. I still find time to read. I read all M/M Romance books, but love different genres like Action, Mystery, Urban Fantasy, even the odd Historical.

I have a question about the shelf (OK maybe a couple). I know how to set them up and use them, but do we have to put all books we might read on this shelf beforehand? I understand it has both read (as they are read) and unread books on it, but can we add to it as the game wears on or are we committed to that shelf from the beginning? I will get mine set up as soon as I have a minute.
