Gloomhaven was such a beast, and it really got my wife and me into the hobby big time. Orleans is so much fun. It's a bag builder disguised as a worker placement game. And the expansions add new ways to play the game, including co-op. Cannot recommend it enough!
I haven't tried Castles of Burgundy yet, but it's definitely on my to-try list. And I'll have to check out Fields of Green. Actually never heard of it.

Gotcha! So sorry for that, was skimming the posts and need to read the full rules to not clog up the forum. And thanks for the clarification on the setting. Will help with picking the rest of my books.

would count as Green 3. (green cover and starts with H)Edit: would also fit with a wild draw 4 for Green 2 (second book in a series)

If you want to post what you are reading before you read to help you plan it out, feel free. The color covers are just not as likely to happen organically as the rest of our cards that’s why we ask people to claim them.
That being said the last two books I read both had red covers, so maybe those color covers would happen naturally as well. 🤷♀️
      Michael wrote: "

Thank you to those who have claimed color cards. We still have color cards that haven’t been claimed yet. As your thinking about books for the month keep an eye out for green and red covers. Current Status of Color Cards:
Green 2 - Shannon
Green 3 - Michael
Green 7 - Ashley
Green 9 - Annalisa
Yellow 9 - Komal
Red 2 - Annalisa
Red 9
Blue 6 - Nirmeen

Sorry for all the questions! Just trying to figure out my first book. I'm not sure I understand the numbers so much. I get the "third in a series" but I saw how the name Holden worked for the number 3? Can someone explain this to me please? I'll post my book choice ASAP. Just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.

Ashley wrote: "Sorry for all the questions! Just trying to figure out my first book. I'm not sure I understand the numbers so much. So for 3 the letter is H. Check out the rules and if you still have more questions please let me know.

I figured it out! What about this for Green 7? I found all the rules and put them in my notes lol. Let me know if this is good and I'll take it. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Yes,
works for a Green 7. I'll put you down.

Here is the count down to the start of UNOhttps://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
I hope everyone is getting excited. Remember that only books started after the countdown timer reaches 0 will count for UNO.
I can take the Red 9 card. The book is The Silent Suspect, author is Neal Pattison, and MC's surname is Northwood.

Sunny wrote: "I can take the Red 9 card. The book is The Silent Suspect, author is Neal Pattison, and MC's surname is Northwood."Thank you.
We still have four Wild Draw 4 cards that need to be covered, so when you are picking your next books keep that in mind. The Wild Draw 4 duplicates one of our color cards. Each card can only be duplicated once.

Annalisa wrote: "There is tineye color extractor. Also, you can ask the team and we can help you decide."Can y'all tell me if the book I chose for Red 9 is half red at all! The book is The Silent Suspect
I have my physical bookshelves organised by colour, so I can definitely help with the coloured cards. I’m a mood reader so I’m not sure what I’ll pick up first!

When I look at the cover there is a lot of black around the edges. I think probably not 50%.
Since no one seemed to have an opinion I asked in the captain’s group. It is less than 50% red. Sorry Sunny.

Then I think I have to let go of the card, since I don't have any other book related to the card. Red 9 card is open for grabs!
Sunny wrote: "Then I think I have to let go of the card, since I don't have any other book related to the card. Red 9 card is open for grabs!"
Is there maybe another color card you could claim? We have the 4 WD4 and they can duplicate any of our color cards.

You can duplicate any of our green cards. Here is a link to the rules: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Here are the details from the main rules.
Wild draw four
Read a book that can fit for any of the coloured cards you have that month (i.e. you are duplicating one of your coloured cards. Each coloured card can only be duplicated once)
      I could read

for red 9. Character name Nathaniel.I am also planning to read
, which could duplicate our blue 6 if we end up needing it :)

I'm taking a WD4 card for Green. I have a book that fulfills most of the terms, except it's a standalone only.

Sunny wrote: "I'm taking a WD4 card for Green. I have a book that fulfills most of the terms, except it's a standalone only."It has to fit all of the terms. Meaning it has to match for either a Green2, Green3, Green7, or Green9 to work for a WD4.

You mean "book for book"?
I’m not sure what you mean book for book. Say you want to read a green 3 and we have
(title) already there, and you want to duplicate it for a WD4 and you wan to read

 then that would work.

I have The Sting of Peppercorns that I wish to read for WD4. By "book for book", I meant a book that matches the genre of the Green reads of other members.
Sunny wrote: "I have The Sting of Peppercorns that I wish to read for WD4. By "book for book", I meant a book that matches the genre of the Green reads of other members."
As far as I know genre doesn’t play a role in the cards at all. You could read that for a Green2 because The starts with a T. Possibly another number depending on character names.
Remember for A/An/The titles you can choose to count or drop the article.

I'll count the article in the name. And I think Green 2 is taken by Shannon.

The book has two characters with T, Tia Rosita (MC's aunt), and Tucaram (a maid's son in MC's home). So the character thing is solved.
Shannon is reading for the green 2 you will take a WD4 and have it duplicated the Green2. Each one of the WD4s will duplicate one of the color cards.
Annalisa wrote: "Shannon is reading for the green 2 you will take a WD4 and have it duplicated the Green2. Each one of the WD4s will duplicate one of the color cards."
Okay. Does that mean I can read my book?

Yes, you can use it for a WD4 that replicates the green 2.

Meaning?
Hi Team,I hope everyone is ready to start reading. We have a little over 11 hours until UNO starts. Here is a link to the countdown again. https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
A few house keeping things for when we start.
1. Remember to check in at least once a week to let us know you are still around. Even if you haven't read any books.
2. Please post your completion posts here using the format below. Please link the edition you read and then put it on your UNO shelf. We are not going to use a planning sheet since it gives everyone a chance to see what others are reading. Also, if you read a book and it isn't in the completion post please let us know. We have 8 reverses for the month.
