Gloomhaven was such a beast, and it really got my wife and me into the hobby big time. Orleans is so much fun. It's a bag builder disguised as a worker placement game. And the expansions add new ways to play the game, including co-op. Cannot recommend it enough!

I haven't tried Castles of Burgundy yet, but it's definitely on my to-try list. And I'll have to check out Fields of Green. Actually never heard of it.

Gotcha! So sorry for that, was skimming the posts and need to read the full rules to not clog up the forum. And thanks for the clarification on the setting. Will help with picking the rest of my books.

Michael McMahan (mcmahamg) | 55 comments A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers, #2) by Brigid Kemmerer would count as Green 3. (green cover and starts with H)

Edit: would also fit with a wild draw 4 for Green 2 (second book in a series)

If you want to post what you are reading before you read to help you plan it out, feel free. The color covers are just not as likely to happen organically as the rest of our cards that’s why we ask people to claim them.

That being said the last two books I read both had red covers, so maybe those color covers would happen naturally as well. 🤷‍♀️

Ashley Reindeau (sweetbooksomine) | 114 comments Sorry for all the questions! Just trying to figure out my first book. I'm not sure I understand the numbers so much. I get the "third in a series" but I saw how the name Holden worked for the number 3? Can someone explain this to me please? I'll post my book choice ASAP. Just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly.

The sort answer is that every number has a letter associated with it that will work for that card. So for 3 the letter is H. Check out the rules and if you still have more questions please let me know.

The Silent Suspect (Paige Northwood, #3) by Nell Pattison

When I look at the cover there is a lot of black around the edges. I think probably not 50%.

Here is a link to the rules: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Here are the details from the main rules.

Wild draw four
Read a book that can fit for any of the coloured cards you have that month (i.e. you are duplicating one of your coloured cards. Each coloured card can only be duplicated once)

Melissa Mcmahon | 90 comments I could read The Beast of Beswick (Everleigh Sisters, #1) by Amalie Howard for red 9. Character name Nathaniel.
I am also planning to read A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas , which could duplicate our blue 6 if we end up needing it :)

Annalisa | 1659 comments Sunny wrote: "I'm taking a WD4 card for Green. I have a book that fulfills most of the terms, except it's a standalone only."

It has to fit all of the terms. Meaning it has to match for either a Green2, Green3, Green7, or Green9 to work for a WD4.

You mean "book for book"?

message 86: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1659 comments I’m not sure what you mean book for book.

Say you want to read a green 3 and we have How to Twist a Dragon's Tale (How to Train Your Dragon, #5) by Cressida Cowell (title) already there, and you want to duplicate it for a WD4 and you wan to read A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers, #2) by Brigid Kemmerer then that would work.

Sunny (Jupiter's Solo Bibliophile) (bibliophilefromjupiter) | 33 comments I have The Sting of Peppercorns that I wish to read for WD4.

As far as I know genre doesn’t play a role in the cards at all. You could read that for a Green2 because The starts with a T. Possibly another number depending on character names.

Remember for A/An/The titles you can choose to count or drop the article.

I'll count the article in the name. And I think Green 2 is taken by Shannon.

The book has two characters with T, Tia Rosita (MC's aunt), and Tucaram (a maid's son in MC's home). So the character thing is solved.

Annalisa | 1659 comments Hi Team,
I hope everyone is ready to start reading. We have a little over 11 hours until UNO starts. Here is a link to the countdown again. https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

A few house keeping things for when we start.
1. Remember to check in at least once a week to let us know you are still around. Even if you haven't read any books.

2. Please post your completion posts here using the format below. Please link the edition you read and then put it on your UNO shelf. We are not going to use a planning sheet since it gives everyone a chance to see what others are reading. Also, if you read a book and it isn't in the completion post please let us know. We have 8 reverses for the month.
