Patnel | 197 comments The title pretty much says it all. 1% Americans are building (I think secretly) ships to colonize Mars, in Mexico, with plans to kidnap locals to enslave them as a labor force. It was a hardcover, I believe, read in the 1990's.
Thanks

Patnel, is this book for adults or teens?

Who is the main character(s)?

Patnel | 197 comments It was a book for adults. I want to say the main character was a teenage Mexican boy, but I would not swear to it.

by Silvia Moreno-Garcia ?

I mean, it doesn't sound exactly like what you're describing, but there are some similar sounding elements.

Patnel | 197 comments Thank you, but that's not it. I read it way before this book was published. Also, mine took place in rural Mexico, and the building of the spaceships was a fairly secret project. Thank you.

Patnel | 197 comments I found it. It was "The Fourth World" by Dennis Danvers.

The Fourth World

You know what's frustrating though? If you type in "The Fourth World" in goodreads, and search by title, you have to go to the 5th page of results to find this book. Not because there are so many books sharing the title, but because the entire first page consists of books that have "four" or "world" in the title, but not both. What is that?

Thanks for the help.

Great! Glad you found your book, Patnel. Thanks for the update.

Try typing part of the title and author in the Goodreads search box (e.g., fourth world danvers).
