Okay, I was talking to Elle about this last night and apparently she has already read this book. She may or may not have spoiled the ending for me... *cough* I totally guessed it *cough*. Even she agreed that it is just like Twilight. You win Elsie. I am now forced to agree that Luce is worse than Bella.

Wow, what caused the change of mind? Unless it has something to do with the end of the book, in which case, do NOT spoil it.
OKAY YOU GUYSSearch up the "Leopard Moon" book. Then search up the "Fallen" book
THE PICTURE ON THE COVER IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME
Okay so I decided to read chapter 15 today too, and I'm at the part where Luce is trying to prove to Daniel that she is smart by naming stuff that she did, like going to a college prep school, speaking 3 languages, and winning the middle school science fair 3 years in a row. So at least Luce has a life, unlike Bella, whose life consisted of searching on the internet for a place to GET A BOOK about werewolves (I still want to know WHY she did this) and sitting in a meadow, completely transfixed by a dude with body glitter.I still like Luce better.
Really? You can really stand that girl over Bella? Luce is the same girl who is practically STALKING Daniel. Yes, Bella may have been a little similar, but did she directly search Edward's name on the internet? I don't think so! Not only that, but Luce goes as far to go and look at his record with Penn, which earlier she had the audacity to say, "I'm not stalking you!" to Daniel. Please, Bella is bearable. Luce . . . I have no words to describe the hate I have in my heart towards this terrible main character. Though, I get where you're coming from; Bella was a very annoying character that I all think we hated within the deepest pits of our hearts.
I think that the two of them are extremely similar. They are both intelligent people (well, at least, self-proclaimed intelligence), both fall in love with a supernatural person, and even have a similar appearance. A very similar appearance. The only difference I see between them is that Bella has no sense of self-preservation. I fell like Luce cares more about her life and isn't always depressed 24/7. While she's still boring (and there's no doubt about it) she has a goal she wants to achieve. Even if that goal is stalking a guy who is *clearly* not into her. And she has a serious conflict other than the dude-- the shadows. Bella does literally nothing the entire series but stand around, and kill the occasional mountain lion.Another thing I want to add is that I am listening to this on the audiobook (except that the physical copy I ordered came today-- hOrRay I gUeSs) so maybe the way Luce is portrayed through the narrator is different than the way she is understood through reading. She probably added more expression to her lines or something, and maybe that's why I think she's more interesting.
Okay, I could see what you're saying, but I'm going to keep my opinion: Luce, to me, is more aggravating to listen to--or, at least, read about--than Bella.
Ok. I agree with all of the above! The only thing I don’t get is if Luce really did all these thing that show that she’s “smart” why on earth does she act so dumb? Her “intelligence” shows nowhere throughout the book. I had to laugh when she’s listing her achievements...
I did too, actually; it's like the author is trying to force personality on her. And she's probably intelligent in terms of school, but not very wise in terms of life.
Not quite... she doesn’t really act smart in either way; she’s not socially smart, and she doesn’t act like she has “book-smarts” either. That’s why I was really surprised when she went into how smart she was.
