Thanks Leonie. Fingers crossed! He'll be home alone if not with no Christmas lunch!

I hope your test is negative and your snuffles turn out just to be allergies!

Trish (trishr) | 1109 comments Best wishes to you Dale on now being home, and continue well on your recovery. Good luck to those of you waiting for results for either yourselves or family members. We were so close to thinking we were on our way out of Covid impacting our lives. Stay safe and healthy as Christmas fast approaches 🌲💖🌲

Thanks Trish.
Trusting that all who are waiting for results for themselves and/ or family members are negative.
Very sad that things turned pear shaped with covid so close to Christmas.

Mine is still a bit tender about a week later. (Yes, I know the irony of it all - booster shot Thursday, head cold Sunday, Covid test Monday.) 🤦🏽‍♀️

message 869: by Odette (last edited Dec 22, 2021 01:55PM) (new)

Odette (odman) | 1136 comments I had the pzifer booster Sunday morning before last.
In the afternoon was really motivated and did some whipper snippering, while the boys mowed our feriously growing grass near the house (bushfire worry, but maybe not this year). Then the following evening our 18 year old cat had a stroke and had to be euthanised the next day, which was quite upsetting.
Admidst all the turmoil suffered stomach issues, which could have been due to muscle strain, and took the best part of week to resolve. However, only a mildly sore arm.
Next time, when/if a 4th is offered will put my feet up and rest for 48 hours after.

message 870: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 79989 comments Mod
Sorry to hear about your cat Odette - devastating. And all your hard work which could have caused the vax to react. A 48 hour rest sounds perfect ;)

message 871: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9837 comments Sorry to hear about your cat Odette. Always sad to lose an old friend who you've cared for for so long.
Sounds like you might have been a bit too enthusiastic in the garden after your booster.

message 872: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9837 comments My older son's covid test came back negative and daily antigen tests are clear too, so Christmas with both boys is on again for us. I know not all families are going to be so lucky with the numbers skyrocketing the way they are in NSW.

That's good news! Especially when there is so much uncertainty.
We will be having a quiet Christmas with one son, as decided not to travel to Sydney this year. Though feel relatively safe with having had the booster, still should be cautious.

A lot of people having to make hard choices about Christmas. Have a lovely time Odette with one son.

message 876: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6879 comments This afternoon I have been listening to Christmas carols by one of my favourite all male acapella groups, Home Free. Some song s were , O Holy Night, Silent Night, Angels we have heard on high, Mary did you Know? And others. Now it feels like Christmas.

message 877: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments Glad to hear your son's Covid test was negative, Carolyn!

Many people are having very quiet Christmases this year, I think, and hear. I know of some families whose kids have Covid, and won't be cleared before Christmas, and others who are rethinking visiting older relatives.

I think it's sensible to be cautious.

And today I heard that our NSW premier has a new nickname on social media.....Domicron. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments Sorry I’ve been absent of late and missed a lot of messages. I hope everyone is ok and looking forward to being able to spend Christmas with family once again…ironically I will be having the luxury of not having to cater this year lol! Yay, doing Boxing Day lunch instead. So Christmas will be a lovely peaceful time for us, just catching up with friends and family at intervals, so my cooking skills have been busy making edible gifts instead…so much more fun!
I wish you all, each and every one of you and yours, a very happy and safe Christmas with lots of love and laughter 🤗🥂🎄⭐️

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2304 comments Hope everyone has had an amazing Christmas! I've been stuck in isolation with my boyfriend for over 5 days now awaiting a negative test result! He got his results on Boxing Day but I'm still waiting, and the results helpline isn't open weekends and public holidays. So it's been a bit of an unusual Christmas this year, but grateful we are together at least, even if we didn't get to see our families!

That's rough Krystal but at least you had each other!

I am off to get tested tomorrow for my 72 hours before travelling to Queensland test. It is scary how much depends on
a) getting the test done (How many hours in the queue?) and
b) will we get the results back in time to fly.
I wish now we had never planned to go.

Hope you get your result soon Krystal. I had to get tested on Thursday and I’d say my result took 26 hours. Christmas Eve in isolation, but luckily it was negative. Must be a headcold - the first I’ve had in ages.

Glad you had each other Krystal!! Hope your results come through soon! And hope they're correct after the latest messes that are coming out of Sydney with so many people being told they're negative and they are either positive or the results haven't been processed yet! Human error as they're so overwhelmed and exhausted, is it any wonder!

Phyrnne, hope you do not have a long wait for test and that the results come back in reasonable time. Someone I know flew to Queensland this morning after having test Xmas eve and getting results back Xmas day morning. Thought Qld was going to relax requirements this week.

Some I know are waiting for a test result after having the test last Thursday morning and still waiting for an answer. As a result they are stuck at home. Good they are board game enthusiasts. Some crazy things happening with covid and results.

It can't be done more than 72 hours before you fly Brenda so it is a bit of a balancing act when you actually do it!
Queensland is maybe relaxing the requirement but not till 1st Jan Odette. Too late for us.

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 2304 comments Hope your trip goes as planned, Phrynne! And yes, Brenda - bit scary the way so many results went astray! Definitely a lot of strain on healthcare workers right now!

I ended up getting my negative result this morning - after a grand total of roughly 117 hours. 5 whole days! But MAN did it feel good to get outside today. :D Very grateful to have had my boyfriend to keep me sane lol, I was definitely losing it yesterday!
