Rob (rjzii) | 8 comments Per the title, I recently added the Basic Books box set edition of the Divine Comedy to the database:

Inferno: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Purgatory: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Paradise: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Can these get linked up to the rest of the Divine Comedy editions in the system (e.g., https://www.goodreads.com/series/6971...) so they are properly tracked?

Scott | 9578 comments Because of the number of editions, this may need to be done by staff.
In future, use the "add new edition" link from an existing one.

Claire Kreutzberger (oyofmidworld) | 45 comments Hi there !
It seems to be a boxed-set, am I right ? If so, I'm under the impression that we shouldn't combine with the originals.

As per the GR guidelines "don't combine:
2-in-1 books or boxed sets that include the given book."

But maybe I misunderstand. A more experienced librarian (maybe @rivka) would be able to tell us what to do to acknowledge the fact that it is a boxed-set.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful !

Scott | 9578 comments Hmm, yes, they probably should have been entered as a set rather than individually. Then it could be combined with other full sets.

Claire Kreutzberger (oyofmidworld) | 45 comments I'm not sure I know how to do that, Scott. Can you ?

message 6: by Scott (new)

Scott | 9578 comments Well, I guess one of the records could be converted to the set and the others merged into it. But I will wait for word from Rivka as well.

Rob (rjzii) | 8 comments @Claire Correct it's a boxed set of three books, but since its the Divine Comedy the convention seems to be to list them as separate books, e.g., https://www.goodreads.com/series/6971...

However, I did just double check the books and they all have the same Library of Congress Card Catalog Number of 63-21690

Rob (rjzii) | 8 comments @Scott It's been a couple days, but I think I used the "Add New Edition" button? The system is a bit awkward to work with though.

Not if they were sold as a set.

That's going to mess up my logging a bit since they are a slow read! :)

Understandable though, better to have an accurate and consistent database! Is there any more information you need from the books to update them?

Rob (rjzii) | 8 comments Perhaps the three entries listed in the first post can be deleted at this point? I've added the edition as a single entry (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...) and also had a chance to add an image for the edition as well.
