Hio IDK anything about Percy Jackson... so I can't answer that question.

And most times, the author helps with the movie. I mean, SM is going to.

Sanah | 37 comments yeah but even in her instagram post she said she has ZERO control over casting. and the characters are a HUGE part of the series.

message 53: by Hio (new)

Hio Okay, but like...
The actor's appearances don't matter.
Honestly, I hope the movie makes the Vackers and the Heks POC

message 54: by Sanah (new)

Sanah | 37 comments yes they do, sophie's brown eyes have HUGE ramifications

Yeah. so a 20 year old could be cast as Sophie, but IMO that doesn't make Sophie canonically 20.

if this movie is worse than the percy jackson ones im sueing disney XD

message 57: by Hio (new)

Hio But literally the actors will probs just wear contacts. It's impossible to find that many blue eyed actors.

And i sincerely doubt that Sophie will be 20. Maybe a couple years older, but not an adult.

Sometimes it does. Like in the PJO movie they gave Annabeth brown hair and blue eyes, and in the books a big part of her character is having blonde hair and grey eyes.

message 59: by Hio (new)

Hio But why is Annabeth having brown hair vs blonde such a big deal?

And also, even if age is messed up, that doesn't make the movies not canon. It's just like an adaptation.

message 60: by Sanah (new)

Sanah | 37 comments Definition of canon: In fiction, canon is the material accepted as officially part of the story in the fictional universe of that story.

movies have different events and sometimes the plot is somewhat different making it not officially part of the story and not canon

But how can they be canonically 12 and 17 at the same time??? And Annabeth's hair was a big deal because Annabeth talks about how she was judged as being dumb because of her blonde hair, and stuff like that. It added a lot more depth to her character and they completely stripped it away. It'd be like giving Sophie blue eyes.

message 62: by Hio (new)

Hio Sanah-Movies are officially part of the universe, even if they are a bit different from the books.
AnnabethChase-Because they are two different adaptations. But they are both official. And this is Keeper, not PJO. And the actor who played Sophie could just wear contacts.

Sanah | 37 comments yes they are part of the universe, but they are not canon

Yes. I know. But it'd be like them just saying oh well, we don't care, she doesn't have to wear contacts. They literally had a blonde and grey eyed actress who was just a camper, (they did switch it to her for The Sea of Monsters, but still) and they could have had her be Annabeth. And even then, there was still the fact that the actor was way too old.

message 65: by Sanah (new)

Sanah | 37 comments Harry was supposed to have green eyes, but the contacts bothered Daniel Radcliffe so they changed it in the movies

message 66: by Hio (new)

Hio Again, this isn't PJO. And they would probably have the Sophie actor wear contacts. And movies are official, and part of the universe, and that's the definition of canon.

message 67: by Hio (new)

Hio Okay, but its more likely than not that the contacts wouldn't bother the actors eyes

Here's a PJO book vs movie venn diagram. Would you say both are canon? https://images.app.goo.gl/mRDusQCM7eM...

message 69: by Sanah (new)

Sanah | 37 comments I know PJO, HP, and KEEPER aren't the same, but i'm talking broadly in that movies for ALL books aren't canon, since they are all made the same way anyway
