K | 27 comments I read this novel several years ago (after 2010), as part of a Regency era romance series. The hero, as I mentioned, suffered a devastating hip/back/leg injury, I think from a carriage accident, or from falling off a horse. He is mostly bedridden, I believe.

I think remember a scene where guests at his home set off a fireworks display or something outside, and he watched it with the heroine from his room?

K, can you tell us more about the couple (e.g., rich and titled, how they met, family, skills and interests/hobbies)?

Around what year did you read this book (2010/2011 to ___)?

I added some details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

K | 27 comments I would say I read it in the last five years, most likely. The hero was titled, and I think the heroine was the daughter of someone with a title as well. The hero had a chessboard in his rooms.

Also, I think the daughter had lived abroad with her father in India, or that could be a different book. In that one, the heroine used some experimental health treatment to fix the hero’s injuries against his will. He was furious, but ended up forgiving her.

New information from K:

"Notable book information:

This is part of a historical romance series set in Britain (think Georgian/Regency). The hero is a gentleman, as I mentioned, and previously suffered a devastating hip/back/leg injury, I think from a carriage accident, or from falling off a horse. He is mostly bedridden, I believe. He doesn't socialize much in society, and has a male sibling/cousin who was written about in another novel in the series.

I think remember a scene where guests at his home set off a fireworks display or something outside, and he watched it with the heroine from his room?

The heroine was a daughter of a doctor, or some titled gentleman working in the East (likely India). She enjoys studying medicine, and worked with someone there (a monk, a doctor, whatever). She came to Britain, and meets this lord. She offers some sort of untested Eastern medicine for his injury, and he refuses. She gives it to him without telling him, and it helps him enormously, but he becomes furious at her betraying his trust.

Obviously they live happily ever after."

Monica (marticles) | 164 comments I may have read this. I think he's angry about the treatment because his mother has been forcing treatments on him all along, and he doesn't want false hope. She calls in a healer that her father worked with, who also is angry with her when he finds out that the patient didn't want treatment. Does that sound familiar? I'' browse through my reading history to see if I can find it.

K | 27 comments It could be? I don’t remember how his relationship with his parents was, but if you find the name, I would love to know. Thank you!

Monica (marticles) | 164 comments So, the one in which the woman uses an experimental remedy on the man is Enchanting Pleasures by Eloisa James. The hero has a hip injury which results in headaches (migraines?) following sex or horseback riding. This leads to days in bed, but he isn't mostly bedridden. She is the daughter of a missionary in India and gives him a very controversial remedy from a healer in India.
