on storygraph (macclown) (macclown) Hi! I'm Siân from good ol' rainy Wales. I'm new to Goodreads pretty much entirely, never used it much before, but I've really missed reading over the past few years so I've set myself a challenge for 2021 to read as much as I can.

If there's one genre that I absolutely adore it's crime novels, the first one I ever remember reading was Deja Dead when I was probably a bit too young to be reading it, and I've loved them since. So excited to see what other recommendations I can find in this group from all of you throughout the year!

It's all a bit overwhelming honestly, there's a lot to look through, but I'm excited to be here!

I've been here on n off for more than a decade (phew!) and it's a great community. Prepare to have your to-read list explode, especially if you ever actually ask for recommendations :)

I've just reviewed my 2020 reading and realised I didn't read a single straight-forward crime/mystery/thriller type! However, I've used one of my group challenges to push me into progressing (some of) my stalled series and quite are few of those are in this genre

Happy reading, hope you're keeping warm and dry in the land of my fathers

We're happy to have you in the group, Sian. Dive into any conversation, and you'll find enough recommendations to keep you reading for all of 2021 and probably beyond.

:)

Wendy | 581 comments Welcome Sian,

Welcome! I agree this site can be a bit overwhelming. Just pace yourself.

I would be curious on how you felt about Rhys Bowen Constable Evans series. Based in Wales.

on storygraph (macclown) (macclown) Thank you all for saying hello! I have a huge list of books I'd really like to read already but I'll definitely need some more recommendations at some point.

I'll definitely have to go over your list at some point, Paul, thank you for the link! Can't hurt to add even more to my To Read shelf!

Thank you, Nancy, for the welcome! I'll definitely be looking for some recommendations at some point.

Wendy, I'm not sure I've read any of the Constable Evans series, will definitely have to look into it! I'll have to see if my local library has it, I can't seem to download it for my Kindle anywhere.

Thanks again all!

Andrew Graham (andrewjamesgraham) | 24 comments welcome.
I have joined Goodreads to hopefully discover some different authors and some brilliant recommendations for must reads.

I usually read the gritty dark British Police dectective novels, my favorite authors being Ian Rankin, Mark Billingham, Peter Robinson and Peter James, but I also enjoy the underworld Gangster type novels by Martina Cole and Stephen Leather.

I also hope the group can advise me on any groups I could join to share my views on crime thrillers, there are loads out there but I'm not sure which ones are the best for conversation.

I look forward to interacting with you in the future.
Regards
Andrew James Graham

Keri (keri_45) | 98 comments Hi Andrew, welcome to GRs! This is to place to build your TBR mountain range. :-) Two recommends from me. Nigel McCreary, his character Mark Lapsli is a British DCI with synesthesia where he has a condition where his senses are mis-wired in his brain and he taste sound as well as hearing it. Still Waters is the first one and is very well done. James Rollins is my next recommend and my book for him would be Amazonia, as that was my first book to read by him and still one that sends chills down your spine. A man goes inti the Amazon jungle with one arm and comes out with two. Rollins has a huge backlist with his Sigma team and that is a fantastic series, but I didn't want to overwhelm you. Enjoy!
