SOLVED. Adult Thriller. Computer expert (or accountant?) is kidnapped. His wife and FBI agent/ detective look for him. Declan or Deveraux? Cover: gold color. Read in 1998. Spoilers ahead. [s]

Only other things I remember about it was a scene when the wife was looking at herself in the mirror post husbands abduction and remarking at how she felt and looked older.

I think the gyst of it was the husband was kidnapped to hack something or retrieve it from his company's server maybe.

Kidnapped guy might have been called Declan or Deveraux though that could have been the fbi agent/detective.

I think the kidnapped guy dies in it.

There is a rescue scene where the detective/fbi uses a gulfstream jet. And a scene where the detective/fbi shines his guns lazer sight down through a skylight.

Read in 1998 pretty sure it had a gold paperback cover and was relatively new at that stage.

Edit: i think the jet was actually a gulfstream.

The abducted guy and the lead (wife) did have at least one kid but I remember nothing about the kid so maybe the kid was young. I also can't really remember the wifes profession.

Set in the US but not sure where exactly in the US.

Thanks Kris, I've edited the 1st comment to include the extra detail! I'm not sure what state it was set in but definitely America. There was definitely a child involved. Think it was quite young but cant really remember any detail. I'm drawing a conplete blank on the wifes job.
