Calypso Dellarocca | 15 comments I started this year by finishing the first game of thrones book. This is my second attempt to get through the whole series, but I thought I would use the 2nd in the series as my first book for this Challenge

Week 14: A book set up in a made up place

A Clash of Kings - George R.R. Martin

8/10

There are few books that have such a vast world that is explored as well as Westoros. I will try to get through the whole series this year but I will only count this one in the challenge. I really loved the series and it was nice to start to see some variation from the TV show in the books. I can't wait to dig into the third instalment and get my year off to a great start!

Calypso Dellarocca | 15 comments Week 15: A book that features siblings as the main characters

The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold

10/10

I felt that this book was a great representation of this weeks themes. I read it about 10 years ago and absolutely loved it. It has since been sat on my to be read bookshelf on here, until I managed to find it in a charity shop. I loved it just as much this time around, and it makes me so sad but happy at the same time. To deal with the theme of a child dying and the waves that this causes is hard enough, but to also involve an afterlife really took it to the next level. Absolutely loved it, will read again <3

Calypso Dellarocca | 15 comments Week 10: A book with a female villain or criminal

I’m a therapist and my patient is in love with a pedophile - Dr Harper

6/10

The book is apparently vaguely based off real cases but as someone working in the field I found myself laughing at the ridiculousness of some of the story lines. Once I got past the lack of reality the story read fairly well if a bit choppy. It must of had some redeeming quality as I read the whole trilogy!

Calypso Dellarocca | 15 comments Week 42: A mystery/thriller

Playdate -Alex Dahl

8/10

I really enjoyed reading this through my lunch breaks! I always have a soft spot for books that show the antagonists point of view throughout, I love the idea that you can see what they are thinking and doing. I would definitely read more of Alexs’ books in the future!

Calypso Dellarocca | 15 comments Week 51: A book whos title refers to person(s) without giving their name

The Cipher - Isabella Maldonado

8/10

I do have a soft spot for detective novels, and this one was just *chefs kiss*. It fits perfectly with this weeks theme, and the book kept me interested to the point where I finished it in 2 sittings. I thought the whole story was really well developed, with the characters backstories to the clues left at the scene. I can't wait to pick up the second book of the series!
