Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 449 comments @Pravana I actually loved the first chapter with Alex teasing both Ian and Abigail. they sure got what they deserved. But, I don't get Abigail at all. she's penniless and her family was looking towards the Duke to cover all their debts, so why did she do it? women those days were very aware of how providential their allinces were. also, she was totally unrepentant.
2. not sure I liked Genevieve ?

but I've still a 100 pages more to go..

Leena,
I didn’t delve too deeply into Abigail’s characterisation.
Now that you mention this, what I think is that -

Abigail would have most likely heard the rumours about the Duke’s wife’s death. So she might have been a little bit in awe of him and a little bit fearful of him. While she’s contemplating being tied to the Duke, (who happens to be considerably older than her) that too for the rest of her life.......Right on cue there appears Ian Eversea on the scene - A young, dashing, handsome, charismatic rake, who romances her / wages a campaign to seduce her.
And so, she might have succumbed...

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 449 comments possibly. but this book is all Alex. he shines. I loved how he torments Ian :)).

Missy | 1477 comments I took a break from this book. When I returned to read chapters 7 through 10, I found myself struggling to get through them. For some reason, (view spoiler)

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the hero (Alex) - particularly his sense of humour and dry wit.

I am not a big fan of large age differences between the two romantic interests - I think it is almost 20 years in this case! I found Genevieve quite immature at times, but I actually think they do suit. I did like how the author made humour out of the age difference. So it kind of didn't bother me too much in this novel.

I found Alex's treatment of Ian particularly funny, and still smile when I think of that scene in the first chapter when he (view spoiler)

I have not read many books by this author. I enjoyed the humour in this one and was wondering whether anyone could suggest any others of hers that are as funny/witty.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 449 comments I finished it too and enjoyed it thoroughly. the vook really picks up towrd the end and then it's a bang!. I too didn't appreciate the age difference too but I loved how they complement each other. the highlight of the bbook is their understanding of and for each other. For a 20 Yr old Genevieve is extremely empathetic and I actually liked that. But, I didn't appreciate her family not giving her due appreciation and constantly uplifting Olivia more. I also didn't like title too much, its misleading G doesn't go out of her way to snare him, its the other way around.

Pravana | 34 comments I finished reading the book and am happy to say that I enjoyed reading it.
What was enjoyable for me -

Chapter 4 which is a chapter written wholly from Alex’s POV. The way he catalogues and analyses Genevieve on everything from her appearance to her demeanor to her manner of speech and the conclusion he draws at the end of the chapter that “Something or someone had made the light out of Genevieve”.

Similarly Chapter 6 is also Alex’s POV where he deprecatingly refers to his game of “Terrify the maiden”. That was also good.

Chapter 9 Alex talks to Genevieve about what constitutes a proper kiss and what it should promise!!!! Ooh. That was so delicious. Makes me want to experience a “Proper Kiss” myself. *sigh*

Yes that kiss story he tells - is fabulous! Exactly what a kiss should be.

Hehe, that’s great! It is such a great moment.

I completed the book. It was okay and easy to read, but I don't know, I wanted something more.

Yes I so agree. My reservations about Guinevere (message 47) meant I found the romance not as satisfying as I had hoped and the ending was definitely unsatisfactory - I wanted more. (view spoiler)
