Leena,
I didn’t delve too deeply into Abigail’s characterisation.
Now that you mention this, what I think is that -
Abigail would have most likely heard the rumours about the Duke’s wife’s death. So she might have been a little bit in awe of him and a little bit fearful of him. While she’s contemplating being tied to the Duke, (who happens to be considerably older than her) that too for the rest of her life.......Right on cue there appears Ian Eversea on the scene - A young, dashing, handsome, charismatic rake, who romances her / wages a campaign to seduce her.
And so, she might have succumbed...

I'm getting mine. I only check the notification bell up at the top and they are coming thru.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the hero (Alex) - particularly his sense of humour and dry wit.
I am not a big fan of large age differences between the two romantic interests - I think it is almost 20 years in this case! I found Genevieve quite immature at times, but I actually think they do suit. I did like how the author made humour out of the age difference. So it kind of didn't bother me too much in this novel.
I found Alex's treatment of Ian particularly funny, and still smile when I think of that scene in the first chapter when he (view spoiler)
I have not read many books by this author. I enjoyed the humour in this one and was wondering whether anyone could suggest any others of hers that are as funny/witty.

What was enjoyable for me -
Chapter 4 which is a chapter written wholly from Alex’s POV. The way he catalogues and analyses Genevieve on everything from her appearance to her demeanor to her manner of speech and the conclusion he draws at the end of the chapter that “Something or someone had made the light out of Genevieve”.
Similarly Chapter 6 is also Alex’s POV where he deprecatingly refers to his game of “Terrify the maiden”. That was also good.
Chapter 9 Alex talks to Genevieve about what constitutes a proper kiss and what it should promise!!!! Ooh. That was so delicious. Makes me want to experience a “Proper Kiss” myself. *sigh*

Hehe, that’s great! It is such a great moment.

I completed the book. It was okay and easy to read, but I don't know, I wanted something more.

Yes I so agree. My reservations about Guinevere (message 47) meant I found the romance not as satisfying as I had hoped and the ending was definitely unsatisfactory - I wanted more. (view spoiler)
