What are your thoughts on these stories so far?

I read the first three stories today.

Blind woman without a toe - an Indonesian rehashing of Cinderella from the point of view of a stepsister. I'm a little tired of Cinderella so I felt a little tired of this story too though the ending has a twist.

Blood - Bring on the macabre. A story of a woman, her period, and her mother's death during childbirth. I enjoyed this one though it was tinged with sorrow. Blood is life and there it goes.

Doors - My favorite so far because it's more fun to be bad than to be sad. Intrigue in an unfamiliar world - unfamiliar to me because the central character is the kept wife of a wealthy and powerful government official. I wonder whether the lack of spousal communication is a cultural norm or a demonstration of the power differential in their relationship? What do you think happened to Bambang?
