Who has read Shantaram by G. Roberts??

Who has read Shantaram and what did you think of it? I could not go on after part I. His writing style is horrible and idk i kinda feel that there are better books about the whole mumbai saga. What you guys think?

I read it 3-4 years back... and remember loving it overall that time. Part 1 is the best. It gets sluggish in the middle... many of my friends marked it as DNF due to the boring middle section.

Do try out A Fine Balance which is based on Mumbai of 70's. Its one of my all time favorites :)

I have read Shantaram few years back. I would rate the book 3/5 as the part till he is in Mumbai its good but when he goes for a war that part is too slow and you will feel many a times not to read it, But anyways i completed that book. But yet I have not started the 2nd part of the book seeing the size of the book my hand does not go there to pick that book....

I read it a couple of years ago. I found it can’t interesting at the time ( don’t remember the details though). But yeah, it did lag somewhat towards the middle.
