No worries Frezita and you really do not have to complete it by the end of March as the threads stay open forever!

I hope you get to really enjoy this one! and Welcome to the group :)

Ewa_ | 87 comments Hello! I've also just started The Count of Monte Cristo but I'm optimistic, Dumas' way of writing appeals to me. Reading it I feel like a spectator who stands close to them.

Ewa_ | 87 comments I do enjoy it!
Reading The Count of Monte Cristo, I admire its complexity. The way the author leads us through small events to get the greater effect. Like the situation with Mr. Morrel, till the last minute, we don't know how Edmund will help him without disgracing him. I was touched.

I read it in 6 or so weeks a couple years ago (not my first reading though) then read it a year later in 3 days. I love his craftiness!

Georgina (georgiet29) | 250 comments I’ve finished and it was amazing, the complexity of all the different parts and how they are all intermingled is far beyond what I was expecting.
It did lull a little in the middle, but as the story starts coming together you understand the significance of all the minor things that are happening. I’m so glad I joined you for this one.

I've finished and was surprised by how much I loved it. I had a falling out with Dumas last year and now am happy to say that I've made up with him after this reading. :)

It took me about a month and a half to read it because there were many other reads that got in the way. But if you only read it, I think it'll be pretty quick despite its length.

Karin | 678 comments My son only hears bits of it while driving, and wanted to know why it was all about people killing each other. I guess that's all he's heard about.

I hope to finish that CD when I pick up my daughter after work so I can listen to a different one tomorrow while re-organizing.

Karin | 678 comments I finally managed to reread this, but am in a rush and can't comment on any of the comments. I still enjoyed it!
