Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Lili the reason why I never read ARCs :D

Finished The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson and the first part was average (for Sanderson) but the second part is just what I expected. Interesting, captivating, with all the twists I like (when I can't even guess what's going to happen). Actually I was surprised in the end and now considering starting the next book instead of other books I've planned to read.
I've also finished Ai Yori Aoshi, Vol. 15 by Kou Fumizuki Naruto, Vol. 04 Hero’s Bridge (Naruto, #4) by Masashi Kishimoto , love both series.
I'm still reading Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5) by Sarah J. Maas and yet again thinking of taking a break of this book as it goes really slow and I feel like not wanting to read it now. The previous books went really well but this one... I'm just struggling to go through.

Gord | 1009 comments I think I'm sliding into a bit of a funk currently. I have things I want to read but not the enthusiasm to read them. Work has been a bit stressful and one of the books I read this week dragged a bit so that probably added to this feeling. That being said here is what I read this week.

Mossflower (Redwall) by Brian Jacques -3 Stars
I had some issues with this book that made it feel longer than it really was. That being said there are definitely elements of this series that I enjoy.

Lethal Bayou Beauty (Miss Fortune Mystery #2) by Jana Deleon -3 Stars
The usual shenanigans from this series and it was what I needed

On the manga side of things I read:
Fairy Tail, Vol. 09 (Fairy Tail, #9) by Hiro Mashima Fairy Tail, Vol. 10 (Fairy Tail, #10) by Hiro Mashima Amanchu ! - Tome 7 by Kozue Amano Amanchu! Volume 8 by Kozue Amano

Lili good that you enjoyed it, waiting for the next book always sucks. I see that one is in the same world as another series of hers?

Elena, I cant remember exactly, where does Well of Ascension end? You wont be disappointed if you go on to read the last of the original trilogy.
How far into EoS are you? That one took me a longer time also.

It is, Brittany. This is a spin-off series of Crown of Shards. It takes place about 16 years later and follows a different character.

Nice!

message 156: by Gord (new)

Gord | 1009 comments I started reading Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Light Novels, Vol. 6 and I think I'm shaking my book funk. It was a bit of a slow start as things from the last book were addressed and new things set up but once things started popping off it's been an engaging read so far.

Yay for shaking the funk

message 158: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Brittany (view spoiler) And I'm a little over the half with EoS. Still too slow :(

So far it's a pretty easy read and has caught my attention. It seems like they are stand alone books so that makes me feel better about reading them out of order.

message 165: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6480 comments Mod
Reading out of order is something I have rarely done and never intentionally. Glad you are enjoying it Amy

message 166: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments Finished Ai Yori Aoshi Vol. 1 (Ai Yori Aoshi, #1) by Kou Fumizuki series and it was good! Cute, sweet and so uplifting! (Thanks Brittany for the rec :D)
Reading Naruto, Vol. 01 Uzumaki Naruto (Naruto, #1) by Masashi Kishimoto Kamisama Kiss, Vol. 1 (Kamisama Kiss, #1) by Julietta Suzuki A Certain Scientific Railgun, Vol. 1 by Motoi Fuyukawa and all are great! Actually a great month in manga selection.

I'm still reading Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5) by Sarah J. Maas and finally it becomes more interesting and maybe will go a bit faster.

I've also started Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell Soldier (Talon, #3) by Julie Kagawa and these are ok.

Fearless Magic (Star-Crossed, #3) by Rachel Higginson is the 3rd book in the series I didn't expect much of but turned out to be very addictive.

And finally one of my all-time favourites The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) by Brandon Sanderson .

Brittany | 6480 comments Mod
I've only read the first Kamisama Kiss so far but I enjoyed that one too.

I've finally made some progress with Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices, #3) by Cassandra Clare . I'm about 50% done with and things are crazy! I'm really enjoying it, but holy crap is it long. Lol. I'm hoping to finally finish it by next week though. (Hopefully 😅)

And yesterday the author sent me a copy of Midnight Movie (Ellie Jordan, Ghost Trapper, #14) by J.L. Bryan , which I started today. I love this series!

I finished reading Magic for Nothing (InCryptid, #6) by Seanan McGuire it was amazing and I thought I owned the next one so I was going to jump straight into it but I don't so now I'm sad. I see a trip to the bookstore in my near future.

Starting Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers

message 186: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) I finished my 18th book

message 187: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I finished The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3) by Brandon Sanderson and it was perfect! I loved everything about this book but the best thing was that it kept me wonder what's next all the time! Every chapter ended with some kind of uncovered secret and it was amazing to finally learn how the whole magic system and world worked here. Sanderson is one of the best author when it comes to unique, detailed worlds and extremely interesting magic systems.

Currently I'm reading Soldier (Talon, #3) by Julie Kagawa and it's still ok. Not too bad but also not very interesting.

I finally finished Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices, #3) by Cassandra Clare and I am not okay... and it's mostly because of the short story at the end 😂 No but I really liked this book. It took me a bit to really get into it, but I had no doubt I would end up enjoying it.

Finished A Study in Death (Lady Darby Mystery #4) by Anna Lee Huber and while it wasn't my favourite of the series it was still a good listen!

Starting the audio for Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1) by Leigh Bardugo next

message 195: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments @Brittany I'm looking forward to your thoughts on Six of Crows.

Finished Soldier (Talon, #3) by Julie Kagawa and it was so-so.

Reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell which is not very interesting but ok to read in between some heavy stories (like Mistborn series) when you really need a break.

Started Beard in Mind (Winston Brothers, #4) by Penny Reid and it's an amazing romance! As expected of Penny Reid.

message 196: by Jo (new)
