Oddly enough I don't think of myself as a fast reader. I think of myself as rather average honestly. That being said I can't ignore the fact that I read a stupid amount either.

Jo, it wasn't bad but you have to be okay not liking the MC as she is not a good person.

Finished Hot Mama (Bigtime, #2) by Jennifer Estep . Not my favorite Jennifer Estep book, but I liked it more than the first book in the series.

Gord | 1009 comments Overall this week has been an enjoyable week of reading.

Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, #8) by Ilona Andrews Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar まどろみバーメイド 1巻 by 早川パオ まどろみバーメイド 2巻【期間限定 無料お試し版】 (芳文社コミックス) by 早川パオ まどろみバーメイド 3巻 (芳文社コミックス) by 早川パオ まどろみバーメイド 4巻【Amazon.co.jp限定描き下ろし特典付】 (芳文社コミックス) by 早川パオ

Currently I'm reading through Storm Rising (Mage Storms, #2) by Mercedes Lackey and it's a slow read so far. It's part of what threw my reading off this weekend. It's not that it's a bad book but it has really long chapters (10 chapters for a 400 page book) and the chapters so far have been a lot inner reflection by the characters. It's less actions in the real world and more characters staring at fire contemplating their existence. I'm really hoping something starts happening here soon but there is a large cast of characters that the author can spend time reflecting on. I'm also checking a manga series called Amanchu! which is a slice of life story about diving.

Looks interesting Lili, I have the first one as a want to read, superheroes are fun.

That sounds like a tougher read of Lackey's. I fell right off the bandwagon of catching up on those books but do enjoy seeing your updates of them Gord. Ooo slice of life about diving sounds interesting! Let me know what that one is like

Read The Beauty of Being a Beast by Jennifer Estep and I really enjoyed it! Loved the twist on the Beauty and the Beast retelling! So good! Plus, it was a very quick, 30-minute read.
I also started on my ARC of Capture the Crown (Gargoyle Queen, #1) by Jennifer Estep because I can't get off that Jennifer Estep train 🤷‍♀️😂

message 126: by Elena (new)

Elena Granger | 1788 comments I've been in a slight reading slump and didn't read much this week. But yesterday I've started a really interesting book about food (healthy eating and healing with the right food). The China Study The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss, and Long-term Health by T. Colin Campbell .

As for my usual fantasy reads, I'm currently reading The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) by Brandon Sanderson and about half into the book it became addictive!

I'm currently listening to Dark Harmony (The Bargainer, #3) by Laura Thalassa and re-reading The Return (Titan, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I was going to do the audios of Titan for my re-read... but the narrator for Seth is horrific. Who decided they should turn an American character into a Russain I do not know!

message 146: by Gord (new)

Gord | 1009 comments That is why I loved the book. It was like a meteor hitting a plane that was crashing into a train while that train crashed into a bus full of orphans. You just can't look away from all the screwed up stuff that was happening.

Finished Capture the Crown (Gargoyle Queen, #1) by Jennifer Estep and I loved it, of course! 😉 The only down side to getting ARCs is waiting even longer for the next book to come out cause you read this one way too early 😩 lol
