I started this. Wow, the language is difficult! The book's a hundred years old but he was writing like it was hundreds of years older.
I'm listening to this while reading and it has me already by the background info and introduction. Enjoying it and think it will make my drive to work tomorrow morning (05:30) more bearable.
God these are some looong paragraphs.
And there's endless descriptions of clothes but I want to know what witches, imp, goblins, pixies, etc look like. All we really know is that demons do in fact have horns.

I've joined in. Quirky, it is definitely quirky. I read the All Souls trilogy last year, this could be a (distant) origin of some of the premise maybe? Just introduced to the second lady character, they seem promising enough.
I decided to save this book for another time, when I'm in the mood for fantasy.
Right now I am on a vintage mystery reading binge.

I agree, Rosemarie. Annette, you can always come back to it later and if you don’t, that’s okay, too.
I definitely plan to read this soon, but I cannot say how soon. I did buy a cheap ebook copy of it, though, so I’m ready whenever.

The story can be tiresome at times. It's a very important work of fantasy that was published before Lord of the Rings. Tolkien gets credit for being the grandfather of fantasy but it's interesting to read fantasy books that came out before the Hobbit.

Enjoy!!
